Ann Coulter is running her overworked mouth again and as usual, it's about people who are actually patriots. This time, it's Jack Murtha.

quote:
In her December 1 nationally syndicated column, right-wing pundit Ann Coulter attacked Rep. John P. Murtha (D-PA), who recently offered a resolution calling for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, by questioning his military service. Murtha, a retired U.S. Marine colonel who served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967, received the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. Coulter questioned Murtha's medals, writing that he "refuses to release his medical records showing he was entitled to his two Purple Hearts."

Coulter's slander of Murtha was reminiscent of tactics used by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (now the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth), who smeared Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), another decorated Vietnam veteran, during his 2004 presidential campaign. The group claimed that Kerry's five combat medals were undeserved despite extensive documentation to the contrary.

Coulter is not fit to clean Murtha's toilet. I really don't see how she keeps her syndication, unless the publications she writes for are no better than she -- a distinct possibility.

There are a lot of insane and immoral people in the world.

The real scandal is that some people and organizations gives this particular psychopath a forum to spew her lies and hate.

Pure hate profiteering.

To be honest, I really question just how much of- or at minimum to what extent- her and all of the rest of the political mouthpieces believe of what they say. What's in it for them is pretty clear- money. Not just money... big, big money. I have no idea what Coulter is really like, but I'm fairly sure that Ann, as with the majority of the spin-doctoring brigades, would say the moon was made of green cheese if she thought it would benefit her party of allegiance.

I can't say this really surprises me. Most of the Neo-con Republicans are Chicken Hawks. They haven't been in combat, so when someone who has criticizes their fondness for sending other people's sons in to combat, all they can do is try to poison the well. It worked with Kerry so I guess they figure Murtha is fair game as well.

There's gotta be a hidden planet from doofus land around here.

I'm going more with the "Ark B" theory.

This is a case where I judge a book by its cover. Even if she was a nice person who feels she's serving her party in this way; if she talks like a shithead she is a shithead.

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.

That, I seriously doubt. I said I didn't know what she really believed, I didn't say she probably wouldn't have all of SFN along with our mothers thrown into a den of hungry lions if there were $1.25 in it for her. Ditto for most of the rest. It's not a business for nice people.

OK - I'll rephrase: Even if she did not believe in what she says, she's still just as evil.

I think these guys, as do we, believe most if not all of what they say.

People like Bill O'Reily are just plain pathologically disturbed. But, I believe the Limbaughs and Colters just have brain filters that soak up crap and filter out common sense.

These guys tend to focus in on whatever supports their pre-existing beliefs and ignore all that doesn't. Think about all the Republican voters who support the government that is really doing the opposite of what the image implies: More government spending than ever before, a war that has clearly made us less safe not more safe, all sorts of regulations trying to control people's personal lives including jailing people without trial and passing the Patriot..cough.spy on you..Act and on and on.

When Delay is indicted, and Meirs is appointed, and Brown screws up FEMA the Republican machine doesn't put out talking points to give the Coulters and Limbaughs a lie to use in the cover-up, the machine pumps out talking points because they know the points will be filtered in and common sense held at abeyance in all the die hard Republicans and on down the rungs of followers. The points fade out at various levels down the rungs of believers depending on how blatant the lies are.

Now, the guys writing the talking points, they know they are lying.

You may be correct (I certainly lay no claim to being a "mind-reader" : ) but I personally find that hard to believe. After Franken's first book came out, Limbaugh started making it a point to say his shows were "entertainment" (and the guy is a professional entertainer.) Many years ago I used to like listening to his radio shows because he'd have stupid jokes and sound-clips about things (like one on Gorbachev stating he'd return Russia to communism... "If the people want it, I'll give it to them"... complete with Gulag marching music) that were really funny... he could be like a radio version of Johnny Carson or Steve Martin, sometimes.) Then it all got too nasty, and the funny stuff faded away, so I stopped listening.

But the man has real talent- he knows how to effectively use radio, there's no doubt about it. That's why he's paid exorbidantly (if not insanely) well to sell messages... I still suspect that what he, and most of the others really believe is anybody's guess. If I had such talent, would I "spin" things (given such opportunity) for an astronomical sum of money? Sure I would! Of course, there are limitations (I wouldn't be the propagandist voice of a rising New Third Reich, for instance) but I think the guy's foremost a "hired gun" with unique communication techniques and skills.

Reagan was similar... he's the only President who made speeches I really liked watching... Reagan was just so good one couldn't help liking the guy.

You must immediately begin writing venomous political books. As Sweet Annie demonstrates, there are currently financial opportunities in the Devil Bitch industry.
