Jon Stewart made fun of Robertson's claims about Sharon. He said he was going for the 'fat and old' over god's wrath as the reason for the stroke.

Does Robertson say god calls you to heaven if you're good and kills you off if you're bad? I don't get the difference.

It's not nice making fun of people's obesity, but in this case...

I recall thinking more than a year ago that Sharon is so fat (I bet it's closer to 150kg than 120kg) it's just a matter of time before he has a heart-failure, or possibly liver or kidney.

I wonder if any of the usual suspects "predicted" this?

It is a pretty significant event, and will impact the middle east in a fairly major way....

Fairly sure that none of us predicted this one here in our little thread.

I don't see a hell of a lot of difference, either.

Robertson diverted charity money to buy mining equipment for a S. African mine he owned and was convicted for it as well.

Here's one that'll make you say, "Well, duh, no shit Sherlock."
quote:
Even Pat Robertson's Friends Are Wondering...

Certainly, his following seems to have diminished. Mr. Robertson's political machine, the Christian Coalition, once a powerhouse at mobilizing voters, is limping along since he resigned as president five years ago, fending off a long waiting list of creditors, its presence in the capital reduced to a post office box.

His old friends and allies in the conservative Christian movement are cringing with embarrassment, giving interviews ruing his remarks. "He speaks for an ever-diminishing number of American evangelicals, and that process accelerates every time he makes a statement like this," said Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.

Os Guinness, a prominent Christian writer and social critic, said: "I know hundreds of people who are just terminally frustrated with the idiotic public statements of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson and the idea that these people represent us. They don't."

The television evangelist Pat Robertson and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may not agree on much, but both suggested Thursday that the severe illness of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was deserved.

Well, it's nice to hear that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agrees with Robertson. Do you think that might give Robertson (or the zombies that agree with him) some pause?
