Wait a minute that rock is actually a martians key holder for when they lose their 'Martian face' keys.
So what your really saying is that some images are not faked and we have been to Mars, thanks for clearing that up. |

Im assuming goofball is trying to imply that there is a footprint in the track, when it is clearly just a wheel track made in a slightly different surface condition.
Wheel mpeg Strange how the wheels look like they would leave a mark just like that.
Also since it is a new tread I'll remind everyone that BB doesnt actually believe the BS he/she is spewing, but is only trying to get a rise out of you.

No way, José. You're going on the incorrect assumption that humans have actually sent a probe to Mars. Of course we never could have. We mere mortal 'mericans don't have the advantage of the profound wisdom bestowed upon our intellectually superior Italian brothers. Some people know better than to even try. If Leonardo da Vinci were here he'd set us poor saps straight. The photo is obviously faked by NASA buffoons. Arizona desert. Toy model Mars probe. Horizon not level. And the most obvious clue? The Photoshop airbrushed wheel tracks of course.

Yeah, guys, I mean like duh. How could everyone have failed to point out the huge stretchy face strung up on poles? It's a dead giveaway the photo is a fake.
Ok, no, I actually have no idea what the hell BB was trying to say.

Here's another teack that looks pretty phoney to me!
Abd the explanation doesn't hold much water, as can be seen in the pic -- I wonder how they brushed out the footprints....

Man filthy's link about the moving rocks in the desert thing pisses me off, how can two rocks move in different directions and a third not move?
Well if two non-alike ships with sails facing different directions and their rudders are also disjoined with a third ship anchored then it would be safe to assume that the first two would move in different directions and the third would not move, correct?
Took me two minutes to come up with that and they come to the conclusion that it makes no sense after a 7 year study, wtf?
Wouldnt the shape of the rock along with the uneven terrain be enough to cover those differences? |

Better still, it's not uneven. More helpful to the possible movement of the rocks is the fact that it's perfectly flat. With no need to fight gravity in any direction, even minor changes in the wind direction could make large differences in the direction of the rocks' movements.
Here is an aerial photograph of the "Racetrack Playa" with a resolution of 8 meters per pixel. And here is a topographic map showing the same location at the same resolution. You'll notice the "Racetrack" is actually a dry lake bed, the lowest point in the area, with several areas of drainage into the lake bed from surrounding hilly terrain. (These images are centered at N 36.6656° W 117.5674°, one of the trail heads in the Death Valley National Park.)
The crackling of the dry earth would most likely occur if that surface gets uniformly wet, followed by periods of dryness. And it does indeed get wet from time to time because of fog and dew conditions, more so during the annual rainy season. Hikers in the area are discouraged from walking on the lake bed when it's wet in order to avoid making long lasting footprints. When the floor of that lake bed is wet it probably gets quite slippery, being mostly a very fine silty material as often found in dry lakes.
So, with a completely flat lubricated surface, it might not take much wind to actually move around items of considerable weight. And yes, variables in the wind resistance and/or friction of the rocks certainly could produce sizable differences in the distances and directions of movement. A shape creating lots of friction could even prevent any movement at all.
Or if all that sounds too technical, the desert gnomes did it.

Its not completely flat, it is littered with pebbles and cracks.
Edit: Also the rock faces touching the ground are not flat or uniform. |

Good luck with that, Dave..... I myself hold forth few such hopes.
I've heard, just this morning no less, another conjecture about the Racetrack Playa stones: tiny, undergound vibrations in the earth's crust. No elaboration on the cause of said vibes.
As I got it in conversation, I think I'd best look it up.
