Excellent point. That's why I told doomar "logic" needs to consist of more than "my common sense would say this is unlikely."

How "logical" is quantum mechanics? Or relativity? The fact remains, despite creationists incredulity, there is no reason why slight changes (the "microevolution" even they concede) wouldn't create entirely new species over time. And "I can't believe it" never has been and never will be a suitable objection.

I've some recent thoughts about the original question here, "Is ID finally caving in?"

I still think so, but now I'm starting to think that ID will collapse more because of a growing hostility to it by Creationists than because the scientific and secular community has defended aginst it so well. I think the Religious Right is beoming more radical, and that enentually anyone even trying to put a "scientific" face on Creationism will be considered an enemy of God.

That's certainly how the Christian Reconstructionists would do things. And they are working very hard to gain an iron-fisted control of the whole Fundy movement. (Thanks to filthy for that illuminating link to information about the fascistic CR movement.) The ID folks are likely not to merely be shunned and abandoned by the Fundies, but attacked by them for not openly crediting God for the Creation.

BTW, I do think the Fundies have pretty much reached their apex of power, barring a coup. But they are getter more radical at the same time.

Don't count on it. They have big bucks and a well oiled machine.

But they can't make evidence appear or disappear and while they might be able to take over a school board in Kansas, they aren't going to convince any half or better informed scientist that they really have scientific evidence for YEC and creation. That nonsense is just a flash in the pan last gasp effort like probably happened in Newton's time.

Never the less, ID, in it's present form, is done like a dinner. All we got left to do is wash the out the pot and put it back in the cupboard.

What I think it is; Dembski, Behe, et al., relied upon the famous gullibility seemingly inherent in our species, as religions have been doing to all peoples for countless centuries. This time, hehehe, it didn't work.

Which doesn't mean that they'll give it up, no. As all else has failed, I suspect that they'll tune up a new fiddle and try it again, sometime down the road. That will fail as well. Too many people are now doing their own thinking.

I do have one stray thought, though: as Alito has now dropped his fundie ass on the Supremo Bench, will they try to finance another attempt and carry it to the highest court?

Ouch! Yeah, like a losing gambler laying everything he has left on one last longshot horse. Makes sense they might try that, filthy.

Still no hint of a scientific theory of Intelligent Design from Doomar.
