Britney Spears to appear in "Will & Grace"

NEW YORK - Britney Spears will guest star on an episode of "Will & Grace," NBC announced Tuesday. The pop star will appear as a Christian conservative sidekick to Sean Hayes' character, Jack, who hosts his own talk show, on the April 13 episode, the network said.

Jack's fictional network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network, leading to Spears contributing a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's."

Christian conservatives are fuming...

Emphasis mine.

Maybe it is time for me to re-evaluate my opinion about Britney Spears...

"NBC does not treat Jews, Muslims or other religions with such disrespect. Yet the network demonstrates a deep of hostility toward followers of Christ."

If you aren't a persecuted Christian, then maybe you don't love Christ.

quote American Family Association Online:
NBC, fresh from giving us the anti-Christian The Book of Daniel, has decided to hit back at the Christian community by presenting an episode of Will and Grace which mocks the crucifixion of Christ.

[...]

To further denigrate Christianity, NBC chose to air it the night before Good Friday.
Oh yeah, I can picture it now. The scheduling group at NBC has a big meeting and someone says, "Remember all that persecuted whining we heard about The Book of Daniel? Let's hit back at that Christian community. When do you suppose we should air this Will & Grace episode so we can be pretty sure of further denigrating Christianity? How about Good Friday? No openings in the schedule? Okay, how about the day before Good Friday? Aha, yes, that'll denigrate those Christians mightily!"

Holy mackerel, give us a break. Looks like at least those particular persecuted whiners are doing a damned fine job of denigrating themselves without NBC's help.

I just can't get over the hypocricy of a group that claims to both be the vast majority (Bill O'Reilly and other pundits claim that "85% of Americans are Christians" over and over!) and then turns around and whines about being percecuted!!! For fuck's sake, the President is a conservative Christian! I also don't recall any stories in the paper of homosexuals or evolutionary biologists beating the living shit out of Christians. Or how about abortion doctors blowing up conservative Christian churches? Are any senators proposing that we have a Constitutional Ammendment to make sure Christians can't get married, because, after all, they are destroying good Secular Humanist values in this country. Anybody read any of those stories?

These people have no fucking sense of humor or irony.

On a more positive note, finally, a reason to start watching Will and Grace again! (The writing got pretty crappy for a while there.)
