quote: A State Department-commissioned poll taken days before January's Palestinian elections warned U.S. policymakers that the militant Islamic group Hamas was in a position to win. Nevertheless, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said after the election that they had no advance indication of a major Hamas triumph.
The poll found that Hamas had been gaining support in previous months and was running neck-and-neck with the secular Fatah party - 30 percent vs. 32 percent - among likely voters. It was distributed within the State Department on Jan. 19, six days before the elections.
How is this person the Sec of State?

Dude-- are you serious? This is but one in a string of examples where the administration had evidence of X, acted as though -X, and then, when X happened, publically claimed that they had no idea of X. A few examples include:
The problems with Katrina; Iraq's lack of WMDs; The local roots of the Iraqi civil unrest; Using planes as weapons; Problems with the new plan for prescripiton drug benefits;
and so on and so on and so on.
Just substitute any of the above for X and it's par for the course!
Condie's par for the course when it comes to this sort of thing. |

I know. For some reason it still quasi-shocks me when they do it though.
