I received this in an e-mail today. I thought many here might get a chuckle out of it. I sure hope at least 10 people read this?
Read alone Especially the Poem
I believe whatever God has in store for
us will be for us.
The poem is very true, unfortunately.
Make sure you read the poem!
CASE 1: Kelly Sedey had one wish,
for her boyfriend of three years,
David Marsden, to propose to her.
Then one day when she was out
to lunch David proposed!
She accepted, but then had to leave
because she had a meeting in 20 min.
When she got to her office,
she noticed on her computer she had some e-mail's.
She checked it, the usual stuff
from her friends, but then she saw one
that she had never gotten before.
It was this poem. She simply deleted it
without even reading all of it.
BIG MISTAKE! Later that evening,
she received a phone call from the police
It was about DAVID! He had been in an accident
with an 18 wheeler. He didn't survive!
CASE 2: Take Katie Robinson She received this poem
and being the believer that she was
she sent it to a few of her friends but
didn't have enough e-mail addresses to send out
the full 10 that you must.
Three days later, Katie went to a masquerade ball.
Later that night when she left to get to her car,
she was killed in that spot by a
hit-and-run drunk driver.
CASE 3: Richard S. Willis sent this poem out
within 45 minutes of reading it.
Not even 4 hours later walking along the street
to his new job interview with a really big company,
when he ran into Cynthia Bell,
his secret love for 5 years. Cynthia came up to him
and told him of her passionate crush on him
that she had had for 2 years.
Three days later, he proposed to her and they got married.
Cynthia and Richard are still married
with three children, happy as ever!
This is the poem:
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time it might
be too late.
Seize the day. Never have regrets.
And most importantly, stay close to your friends
and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today.
You must send this on in 3 hours after reading the letter
to 10 other people.
If you do this, you will receive unbelievably good luck in love.
The person that you are most attracted to will soon return to you.
If you do not, bad luck will rear its ugly head at you.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE!
You have read the warnings, seen the cases,
and the consequences.
You MUST send this on or face dreadfully bad luck.
*NOTE*
the more people that you send this to, the better
luck you will have.
SMILE, even through your tears!!!!!

The poem looses its rhyme at the end.

I read one word, does that count as starting to read it? |
"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History
"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini |

Really did kinda fall apart there at the end.
I read it, and I won't send it on to anyone. I'll let y'all know if I die. I'll tell Storm. |

Damn! How come I never get good stuff like that?!
I scanned the poem far enough to see that it was pretty pathetic. But then, I don't suppose that a poetry reading was the actual point. Good thing, too. The problem that we have here is that perhaps thousnads of people will take this seriously. Sad...

well that's one way to get people to read your bad poetry.
I would bet good money that that was written by a high school student who thinks they are "deep." |

Not reading it or sending it results in a death, so if a symmetry is somehow involved, reading it and sending it will result in immortality? Or, if it's some kind of symmetry-within-death, total extinction? |
Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.

This sort of thing would be a good way to illustrate why Pascal's Wager is a stupid idea. I'm sure there are lots of people who send this thing on to ten of their friends, not because they think it is legit, but because it makes them feel a little paranoid, so they just figure "It wouldn't hurt to send it, and it might hurt to not send it." What they miss is that the odds of it being legit are so miniscule to the point of being nonexistant. |

CASE 4: Sally R. Tatum received this email at work, and although she was initially skeptical, she finally read the poem and decided to bring some joy to her friends. She sent the email on to everyone in her address book. Within one hour, three friends she had not heard from in years responded, telling her not to forward chain emails. Her boss decided to give her a promotion, but after receiving several complaints from irritated customers in her email address book, decided to fire her instead. A handsome young man in Accounting finally worked up the nerve to ask her out, but decided he didn't want to date someone who forwarded idiot emails with saccharine poetry. Shortly after being escorted from the building by Security, Sally finally realized her dreams of fame, when she became the first known person killed by a meteorite in North America. Send this to everyone you know! |

I wonder if some of things are started by people who are simply curious to see how long it will take before it comes back ot them.
If you do not read this post you will die -- eventually. |

Are you sure you got the facts straight? Wasn't her name Georgia Lass, and wasn't the meteor really a toilet seat from the space station MIR?

What I would like to know is who revises the chain letters to include those pretty much unknown people who have broken the chain and faced the dire consequences listed in the chain mail for doing so?
Does the letter rewrite itself?

Just wanted everybody to know that I am still alive 3 days after receiving the e-mail and not sending it. However, my wifes aunts mother (is there a name for this relationship?) died yesterday. I am sure it was the letter. (not the cancer she was battling for the last 3 years). |
