This is my favorite:
"Scripture also says 'Render unto Caesar what Caesar demands.' And right now, Caesar demands a building permit," County Commission Chairman Mike Whitehead said.
That still gets me giggling.

Welladay! I was wondering if that would ever be resolved. It is always a pleasure to see the arrogant get their comeuppance. It happens all too seldom.

I would add the fishslap at this point, but the smiley doesn't seem to be using a 29#, frozen mackerel.

Hovind is a .

But this is awesomely funny:
quote:
"Scripture also says 'Render unto Caesar what Caesar demands.' And right now, Caesar demands a building permit," County Commission Chairman Mike Whitehead said.

That is great. I am still laughing 20 minutes after my initial read of that line.

Sheesh, just more tax-evasion nonsense. Unless, of course, churches in general are exempt from getting building permits.

"Evolutionists are trying to use building permits to silence Creationists because they know we're right."

I'm starting to see an amazing amount of similarities between Hovind and Kevin Trudeau.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

So... what do we read in II Kings 1?

how about this: (II Kings 1:10)
1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

The entire II Kings 1 is a "demonstration" of how offending God will make Him burn you to a crisp.

Walking around wishing that people are burned to death isn't what I associate with christianity, but then, none of you should be surprised.

I think that was a slightly veiled terroristic death threat, directed at county government officials. Note this in the context that that Hovind has also given out a link which publicizes the county officials' home addresses.

Good thing you're not an IDist fruitcake like Bill Dembski, HalfMooner, or you'd have called the Department of Homeland Security about Hovind.
