This won't last long. I am moving the site hopefully within 2 weeks to a place lauded for their excellent technical help. It will cost more but we will also get more. I know a sweet location that is only 10 more enough but the site will have all new capabilities and far faster performance. Not a bad deal for $10 more enough.

At the new site there is software that would easily let members upload their own images then edit them through their web browsers and even animate or add text then move the image where desired. Pretty slick!

There is also a sophisticated membership system that can replace the buggy cookie system now used.

Well there's a lot more but impressive technical response time is also noted and I see that that's more important than any snazzy extras.

So, two weeks huh? Think they'll get this fixed before that?

IMO, I doubt it. I'd blame the hoildays, but it's been about 2 and a half weeks since Thanksgiving.

For those in the know: Does anybody have the link to AOL's site to download their software so's we can all fully enjoy this site again? Also, would it work for everyone or only just those who had AOL before all this happened?

There's a copy of some version of the AOL software on most Windows CDs. You can probably install that and then upgrade once you are connected. Also, I picked up a free AOL CD at Target awhile back, when they were beta testing 7.0. Use at your own risk; it does funny things to your network settings that generally aren't undoable while the software is installed.

Nice idea, PD, but I don't own the original CD Windows was on. This laptop here belongs to the college I'm going to. I might be able to use a CD that a sample baseball game is on. Pretty old, though. From 1998. And it only has 50 free hours.

Dude, you gotta know someone who gets these things in the mail every month. As for the hours, I know the new 'titanium' packages offer like 700 hours (not sure, they go straight in the trash) but I've been told any free hours you have must be used in the first month. So, let's see... Average month: 30 days; times 24 hours equals 720. Hmm. Better get cracking.

That's what I'm using now when I log on to AOL. A disk that I got at Target but it's for 5.0. I have other versions on this machine also, and have been on AOL for years. Other then it saying on the top bar 'brought to you by Target', I see nothing different then before with any other version I've ever used....other then the upgrades.
Go for it! Oh, I've seen disks in Sears too, but that was a long time ago. Gees, there are so many ways to connect to AOL, I'm sure you will be ingenious about it.

OK, I got a big check in the mail and will begin moving things within the next few days. Just a little more patience while I get everything ready.

That's another thing that drives me nuts about AOL. 'Upgrades' are not really upgrades. The AOL software installs another entire version of itself instead of just overwriting the necessary components. Those of you who have used it for awhile will no doubt notice that you have as many folders as you have numeric editions, not to mention all the 'a,' 'b,' 'c' etc. versions. If you tend to think critically about your software, as I do, you might come to the conclusion that AOL is consistently the worst designed, worst implemented, and least powerful mass of code extant, as I have.

No, that would be anything and everything the Army contracts for.

This is truly a bummer. Suddenly, the only area I can enter is the active topic listed on the home page. All others have locked me out. You guys conspiring against me or what?

It's been that way for weeks for me, Garrette...unable to access any folder except the most-recently opened one.
