On the lighter side...
My son came home from school yesterday whining about how his two partners on a school project were not doing their share of the work.
I'd like to have been empathetic, but I wasn't. I told him maybe that should make him think how I feel about his lack of helping me with all the work around the house.
While it probably won't last, he did his chores after only being asked twice (really that is a miracle) and he actually asked me if there was anything else he needed to do before he went to bed.
The simple pleasures.....

Those moments are great, they usually make a better impression than any kind of discussion. It is also a good life lesson to learn early that it is that way in the real world as well. There are always those people in any organization that do not pull their weight. |

Beautiful, B! I've had those moments, myself, playing each of the two roles. You definitely gave your son a an important "life lesson," made most effective by showing him he'd already gotten the data for himself, and only needed a nudge to make the connection and the conclusion.

Human nature being what it is, behavior doesn't really change so fast. But your lesson is still in your son's brain, waiting to be inevitably recalled someday when he has kids.
Maybe that's out greatest legacy as parents?: Futile lessons passed down the endless generations.
