Deleted Anchorman clip.

One of the most hillariously uncomfortable things I've ever seen.

! ! ! ! What a riot!

"We are all connected; to each other biologically, to the earth chemically, to the rest of the universe atomically."

"So you're made of detritus [from exploded stars]. Get over it. Or better yet, celebrate it. After all, what nobler thought can one cherish than that the universe lives within us all?"

"...the problem is the altitude."

That's going to have me going for days.

That was a great scene. One of those classically uncomfortable situations. I wonder why it was cut? Because someone felt it was "too gay," or because someone felt it was "anti-gay"? Could be considered either. Maybe some even think it was both. If was cut for either of those reasons, people should lighten up. I doubt it was cut for not being funny, though.

I doubt that it was either of those things. The movie already had a scene with the same joke that was left in. My guess is they dropped it for any one of the following reasons. It was redundant even though I'm sure it was intended to be a running joke, or it was a film running time issue, or it didn't work as the end of the film, which would have been the only place that scene could have been cut from. Or it might have been for use durring the closing credits and they chose to do outtakes instead...

You know, I really liked that movie in all of its goofiness. It was so completely over the top and still very funny. Some good cameos too.

Sometimes it's okay to just do funny as the only redeeming value…

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

You convinced me, kil, though I generally prefer to run with conspiracy-by-idiots explanations.

One of the minor things I liked about "Anchorman" was that it was shot in San Diego, my natal city. For all its proximity to Hollywood, surprisingly few movies are shot on location there. I suspect Toronto and Montreal get more films. Speaking of film locations, "American Wedding" had locations shot at the Ritz Carlton Hotel just a few blocks from my home in my tiny town of Half Moon Bay, while "Memoirs of a Geisha" used a location in Moss Beach, an even smaller neighboring community a few miles up the road. Back in the 80's when I lived in San Francisco's grungy Mission District, scenes for the flop comedy, "Crackers" was filmed on my very block. I got to meet Donald Sutherland, Sean Penn, Wally Shawn, and director Louis Malle, and watch details of the filming's artful fakery. (It's surprising how many very bright lights are used to create "night" scenes.)

I wish there was a published guide to where movie locations are being used. We probably could all walk a few blocks to watch filmings on almost any given day.
