This is all over the blogs, Air America, and I assume somewhere on C-SPAN. I can't stop laughing. Here is a link to the quote from the first blog on the top of a Google list.

Ted Stevens, our senile senior Senator from AK:
quote:
There's one company now you can sign up and you can get a movie delivered to your house daily by delivery service. Okay. And currently it comes to your house, it gets put in the mail box when you get home and you change your order but you pay for that, right.

But this service isn't going to go through the interent and what you do is you just go to a place on the internet and you order your movie and guess what you can order ten of them delivered to you and the delivery charge is free.

Ten of them streaming across that internet and what happens to your own personal internet?

I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?

Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the internet commercially.

In defense of Ted Stevens, it does indeed take a lot of bandwidth to send an entire internet. He should consider having it home delivered, like Blockbuster does.

HM, you are joking I hope? Stevens is claiming his e-mail takes 3 days to get to him.

Oh, I just re-read your post. Where did I hear that whole Internet joke? You must have had Sam Ceder on your radio too.

Personal internet! I want one!

Thanks beskeptigal, that made my day.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Nope, I play no radio. I just caught that in Stevens' quote. Poor old guy doesn't seem to know what's going on around him. Someday soon, he'll just wander off into the tundra.

I'm just not reading closely enough. I did it again. Now I see where Ceder got the 'sending the whole Net' thing as well.

You see, B., like most sane people, when reading, you tend to see the kind of rational words you yourself would write, rather than the bizarre stuff that may actually be there. I don't have that kind of problem.
