Hi, Folks,

Not that anyone cares much, but I'll be offline for a while over the holidays. Should be back around New Years'.

Perhaps others of you will wish to add your holiday schedules to this thread. Please do!

Hope your solstice gatherings are happy ones. See you next year!

Well, I guess I'll hold down the fort. I have to work this whole weekend (1-day off) and it's Wednesday. Anyway - everyone have wonderful holidays and time with friends and family.

Ok, my turn.
At least one thing changed this year, I got my shopping and cards off at a decent time. Only one package left to ship off to my cousin in Oregon. She belongs to some strange religion, I think bordering on a cult but they don't celebrate xmas yet they believe in Gesses but they are not Johoves Wittnesses. Whatever, I can send her gift for New Years.
Then I think I have just enough time to try to clean up the mess and clutter in the house and move enough junk around to put up a xmas tree.
I love the flashing lights.

HAPPY NEWYEAR All!

"Hiatus" in Latin is a fourth declension masculine noun, so the nominative plural would be "hiatus" and not "hiati."

In English, the plural is either "hiatuses" or "hiatus."

No wonder your reply is so symetrical.

It's official, folks. We have WINTER! It is really coming down here in Minnesota.

Must be nice James. Here in SD, we have the "cold" part down pat, but no white xmas.
This holiday should be interesting. My next door neighbor had to fly back east for a family emergency, and usually she and I split the labor for holiday dinners. Now I'm cooking for eight by myself. Someone please send valium.

Here's hoping everyone has a great holiday, and no one gets lumps of coal!

Here in San Francisco they have opened the Christy Yamaguchi (sp?) ice skateing rink in the new plaza at the foot of market Street. Yesterday I was sitting in a sidewalk cafe, sipping hot chocolate and watching people skate in the shade of dozens of palm trees. Just down the block is the turntable for the California Street Cable Cars. Three cars were waiting their turn to turn. The Break men, all wearing Santa hats, played Jingle Bells in chorus on the Cable Car's clangors.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all, whist you freeze with your white christmas, we will be drinking beer and having barbeques in 30 degree heat.

I kinda envy you all

The blizzard is expected to hit sometime in the next two days - maybe it'll be on time to really screw up my drive home Tuesday morning.

Two things:

1. BUNDLE UP!!!!

2. 40's is freezing? Nah. Right now it's in the teens in Minnesota. For X-Mas, I wouldn't have it any other way. Of course, after X-Mas, PLEASE sends those 40 degree temp this way.

The one good thing about this "winter" so far, we had a run of 56(7?) day of above normal temps. We had 40 degree temps this time last week. We were practically roasting. Certainly helped on construction jobs up here.

Well, thanks, but Duh!!! Sometimes besides wearing two or three pairs of soxs to bed I also have to wear gloves. And that's not to mention the t-shirt under a sweat shirt, under another fleese pull-over, long underwear and several blankets and comforters.

We here on this site might be skeptical about a lot of things but I can tell you this for sure, Californians DO have thinner blood or whatever you want to call it. What's warm to you is cold to us. No getting around it. And I'm sure if I was in Minnesota, I'd be a popcicle and you'd have to thaw me out. You are welcome to come here to visit as long as you go back home but I'll not go there in winter, thank you.

We have actually had our coldest December on record....not one day over the 30 degrees celcius mark all December......brrrrrr

Thats O.K though becuase I haven't had a day off for 13 days, and the temperature remains a constant 20 odd degrees in an office building.....

5 days off though from the 28th onwards.....so Happy New Year to you all and I hope that everyone gets their wishes.....now, just to give up smoking......I'll try again.....bloody New Years resolutions.....

You can do it, buddy, I know you can.
You have everything going for you. You can't smoke while you are surffing, you shouldn't be smoking while with the computers. Just think about it, that every minute you are not smoking otherwise, you are that much closer to your goal of not having another one, ever. The longer you can go without one the stronger you become.
Don't be a slave to big bussiness and a mindless zombie to advertizing.
Good luck.
