Well Happy Bastille Day!

(Trois acclamations pour le blanc bleu et rouge!)

One of the best national anthems!

I have always found La Marseillaise stirring. Perhaps it's because my ancestry is French. But then again, they were Huguenots, so maybe it shouldn't inspire me so.

No matter; thanks, Chip!

La Marseillaise is a wonderful song. It's stirred me ever since I first heard it sung, I think in "Casablanca." I sometimes kid, but France was America's first ally. Happy Bastille Day, all!

Yes, yes, were it not for France, we would all be singing God Save the Queen (save her from what, I couldn't say. The ways of Englishmen are passing strange -- out in the noon-day sun; that sort of thing). The Comte d'Rochambeau and Marquis d'Lafayette Should be celebrated as American heroes. Benjamin Franklin should be canonized for getting the French involved.

Vive la France!
