YO: "South of the border...down Mexico way."
Just THIS In.... Women Seize TV Station in Oaxaca, Mexico 3:26 p.m. ET OAXACA, Mexico (AP) -- About 500 women banging spoons against pots and pans seized a state-run television station and broadcast a homemade video Wednesday that showed police kicking protesters out of Oaxaca's main square last month. ///////////// Orwellingly Yurz sez: Sounds like some of those Ukrainian liberals wanting democracy have moved from Kiev to south of our border, eh?

Do you know, were these protests related to the contested Presidential election in Mexico, or were they local matters?
(I remember when that Gene Autry song was popular, back in the early 50's. Living briefly in Fairbanks, Alaska, I recall singing it as "South of three borders, down Mexico way." Cold War Fairbanks had sandbagged anti-aircraft guns on street corners, and Army tanks and half-tracks on the streets. The biggest structure in town, the Polaris Building, was next door to a tiny, dilapidated log cabin. A line of telephone poles ran along in the main street, instead of along the sidewalk. The military would regularly round up all civilians for mandatory inoculations. I collected mammoth and mastodon teeth, bones, and ivory from areas outside town where gold dredges had torn up the landscape. All in all, a wonderland for a young lad!)
