Whenever I've seen commercials for Girls Gone Wild I've grimaced and squirmed, and then wondered why it was bothering me so much. I've always hated those ads for those videos, even though I have no problem with and even enjoy some pornography. This is soft core, all adult and done with consent, and yet something about it has always bugged me to the point where I would change the channel.

So many times cops have allowed domestic violence as if because there is a relationship that makes it OK.
Then the stupid reporter doesn't press charges. The only excuse there would be the cops told her there wasn't much to convict on without physical damage one can photograph or show in the ED record but that isn't what the account says.
The whole thing is so typical of an alcoholic. Gets drunk, gets physical, whines, "I'm sorry baby" afterward. The guy is creepy on those commercials when he says things like, "Do you think I could get you to take those pants off?" The girls are stupid. Obviously many are drunk.
So now he's rich, he'll drink himself to death real soon. |

I know why I feel this is sleazier than "real porn".
If someone decides to make a porno movie they have to actually make an effort to show up and to do a job. There is time and effort involved during which the person can decide whether the decision they have made is what they really want or not.
These peepshows that "Girls Gone Wild" are putting on are taken from idea to implication within a matter of minutes. Combine that with heavy alcohol use and the fact that they are targeting girls who are still in that time of life when they are insecure about whether they are attractive.
It's like watching someone push someone over a cliff with a series of gentle nudges. Never hard enough to get them to defend themselves, but hard enough to get them over.
It makes my skin crawl. |

Hmm three ladies, three negative responses.
Id like to use the Mel Gibson defense, he may be a scumbag but did you see all the cool beheadings in Braveheart?!?!
No doubt he is a scumbag, but hes done more for boobie freedom than any man I know, God bless him. (The alcohol thing does bother me though, drunk women are much less attractive.)

BigPapaSmurf, if you can't see an satisfying amount of boobs in real life, maybe you need to turn off the TV and work on your skills?

I don't think any women here has complained about the peddling of images of naked boobies, or porn for that matter. Hell, I enjoy a good deal of porn myself (Bears are totally hot). What was being responded to negatively was an article about a guy who targets drunk, barely-legal women, and who allegedly assaulted a reporter and raped an 18 year old drunk woman. We can argue that there are different levels of severity regarding different kinds of rape (date rape vs. a total stranger jumping out of the bushes), but forced sex on someone who is saying "No, it hurts." is still rape. I don't think any decent man or woman would defend the maker of "Girls Gone Wild" if he does do these things, regardless of how much they love videos with jiggling tits. |

I found this quote to be pretty stupid. By what is he measuring success? The most driven and successful scientists definitely break the mold he's suggesting here. I don't recall anything about Einstein being a real ladies man. |

Mmmm, I've never heard that before. I thought he had a pretty normal love life.
Well anyway - Bill Gates then. I KNOW Bill Gates was actually a rather unsuccessful ladies man, and yet he is the most financially successful living person. He got the hot wife after he made his money.
I'm sure we could easily come up with a huge list of highly successful men who were duds when it came to dating. |

Well, his wife did work for him... and they've been together for aeons. But, true, he does look shy as hell and the very embodiment of geek stereotypes, so he probably wasn't all that popular.

I know I will get blasted for this but here it goes. These men are doing nothing illegal. The women that are in his movies consent to the filming. Whether they consent under intoxication or not they put themselves in that situation for something bad to happen to them. You would not excuse a drunk driver because their decision making ability was impaired, but you do excuse these women for the same reason. Are they adults or not? Now if he did rape a women then thats another story.
I am not saying that the movie makers are not immoral or unethical. We need to educate men and women that their actions may have unintended consequences.
