Look what Randy started...

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

No! I didn't. I just thought it was a guy in front of his computer, as he had the line:

My post has been corrected.

Well, the guy is Richard Dreyfuss in Spielberg's sci fi classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind after the aliens inspire him to create a model of Devils Tower. I suppose someone of your youth can be forgiven for not being familar with the film (which came out in 1977), but it's considered an iconic movie image.

And I do believe the "crude" was Randy's comment on his own handiwork and the "beers" a reference to the fun he had while making it.

P.S. If you look closely at Randy's image, the screen on the computer shows the chocolate Madonna up for sale on Ebay.

There goes another 30 minutes of my time. I tried taking out the base, and while it looked better, I thought it was no longer recognizable what exactly the picture was of.
