YO: Just THIS In..from the MSNBC web site (Go to site for all of it.)
Bush links Lebanon to war on terror President says violence a reaction to efforts to build democracy WASHINGTON - President Bush said Saturday that his administration's determination to remain in Iraq and its efforts to end violence in Lebanon are key to protecting the U.S. from future terrorist attacks. Democrats countered that Americans will be safer if the nation begins a phased pullout of U.S. forces from Iraq.
“It is no coincidence that two nations that are building free societies in the heart of the Middle East — Lebanon and Iraq — are also the scenes of the most violent terrorist activity,” Bush said in his weekly radio address. “We will defeat the terrorists by strengthening young democracies across the broader Middle East.”
He acknowledged that “the way forward will be difficult.” But, the president said, “America's security depends on liberty's advance in this troubled region.”
OY sez: President Cheney and his neo-cons slog "forward" with a "Darts In The Fog" plan for the Middle East. The Iraq War, despite it's dismal failure, has been the first step. Now, President Cheney has recruited the Israeli military in a second phase without having to bring on more American troops.
We've now heard the newest salvo of bushit to blur the reason for the new Israel/Lebanon war with that spewed for so long as to the why of Iraq.
The latest skirmish in Lebanon will probably continue as the U-S provides Israel target information as to where military shipments are flowing into eastern Lebanon.
If the U-S can get past this nightmare neo-con executive term of office without there being a significant escalation with Iran, the world will be fortunate.
Power does, indeed, corrupt absolutely; so as it blinds.
Don't listen to the bushit, freedom and democracy are taken, not given.
When you hear a GOP neo-con rhetorically spurt 'cut and run,' remind him/her that Ronald Reagan 'cut and ran' from the very city Israel has been bombing this past month: Beirut.
Adding further to this posting: I saw a BBC video piece yesterday that was broadcast by the local PBS station about the Israeli reaction to its month's war with Hezbollah. The story reported deep displeasure with Prime Minister Olmert. Many think Olmert is too much of a newcomer and short on military experience to have waged an effective assault into southern Lebanon.
Due to my suspicious nature (nothing skeptical here) of rightwing philosophical mental processes, I must say that this is likely more bushit American style within the reactionary factions of Israel to bring forward a more bellicose leader like Benjamin Netanyahu. He's a man who has lots in common with President Cheney.
OY some more!
