Luke, in your zeal to kowtow to your corporate and theonazi masters, you ignore the simple fact that documents which had been accessible to the public no longer are. With no indication as to when, or even if, they ever will be available again. These documents are very likely to show corporate polluting, and/or Bush administration activities to ignore that polluting. Which is doubtless why they have been removed from sight in the first place.
Don't you dare accuse people of being "paranoid" when their very sources of information have been removed, and replaced with theonazi propaganda! You'd have to be nuts not to be a bit paranoid under such circumstances. And the "paranoia" you refer to is essentially a demand for the restoration of real information.

Doubtless, eh? So much for skepticism in your world view...
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Please provide it or you really are just another paranoid ranter.
Also provide evidence I am kowtowing to "theonazi masters". After which I will embarass you like you have never been embarassed in you life.
But then, I suppose anyone to the right of Che Guevera looks like a nazi to someone like you.

Oh, holy crap.
Where did I miss a post of Luke's that was so unashamedly toeing the Republican line that one could reasonably accuse him of being a right-wing extremist toady? |

Okay, I Dave, you're right. I retract those insults. That was over the top on my part, and I apologize, both to Luke and to the readers here.
I guess I was cruising for someone to verbally beat up on, what with the political situation. But Luke's way off base on these documents. Hiding them away is a seriously repressive move, very likely to be covering up crimes. And that issue does get me steamed.

This place is weird. I have been here a couple days and been accused of being a Christian who is a toady of fascist evangelicals and of being a today of theonazis.
Makes we wonder what kind of place this is.
Regardless, I accept your apology HalfMooner. It is a rare forum where the Politics section isn't overheated. :)
As for the EPA libraries, hey, I'm real big on libraries. Used to practically live in one growing up. So any time a library is closed, a part of me is sad to see it happen.
But as for some kind of dastardly plot, there are several things we don't know.
For instance, what is a "document" in this context of "80,000 documents"? Could old in-house budget reports and supply requisitions be in there?
Next, how many total "documents" does the EPA possess? Millions? What percentage of the total is 80,000?
Next, is it possible that documents damaging to Bush's world domination plan are contained within the seven libraries (or however many) to be closed, and not in any others? Who chose which libraries were to be closed? Did Bush figure out which libraries had key documents which made him look bad and then target them? Enquiring minds want to know.
Next, how many of the 80,000 lost souls are not copied anywhere else? What percentage of all EPA documents is that?
Lots of room between these questions and "doubtless".
I know Bush is no friend of science, and it concerns me. But let's not go overboard and jump to conclusions.
I am equally wary of biased "news" sources such as is in the OP as I am of Bush.

Luke, politics is the true test off skeptisim. A lot of "skeptics" fail misreably here. Throw a scientific theory at them, and they can dissect it, and cut right through most of the bullshit, and come up with wonderful, articulate, responses that are the bane of lazy researchers. Throw hard proof of anything done right by the right, or wrong by the left and they lose their minds.

Perhaps part of the problem, Luke, is that much of Bush's presidency has been spent tearing down important things the EPA had worked for. So when news of something like this comes up, a person might-- particularly if that person were tired of the rather harsh stance Bush has to environmental protection-- have a rather cynical view of such actions. |
