Gee-whiz. God's Rottweiler has a problem with Canadian ethics? How terribly distressing.
Until this is dealt with, the papacy has absolutely no moral standing to be casting aspersions at others' ethics whatsoever. Period. Until the houses of the holy can accept responsibility for their crimes and efficaciously act to counter them, their houses are the flimsiest houses of (ethical) cards imaginable.
Rottweiler, separate the men from the boys before worrying about separating the men from the men.
Canada chose to enact a law to serve a segment of the population previously excluded from social functions that permit them to live as ordinary, tax-paying, law-abiding citizens. I laud the previous government for serving the needs of its citizens and condemn the current Bush-lapdog (Harper) for trying to reverse that service.
But, Rottweiler, please do continue to make yourself and the dark and twisted horde of rapists and monsters you represent more and more irrevant with your ruthless, vicious and human-hating "ethics." More and more we are seeing you for what you are.
I choose humanity.

Well at least there is some sanity about this issue from my northern cousens. The Pope, in all honesty, is really going after the wrong issue and it will cost the Cathlic faith in the long run. |

Dang! Oops. Sorry, folks.
The "this" in the second paragraph should have been the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimen_sollicitationis
Maybe, it'll make a little more sense now. |

Thank you for that link, dglas! Following the link on the Wiki article itself, I was able to read the PDF of the English translation of "Crimen sollicitationis." The document instructs everyone involved that they must tell nobody about what is discovered in cases of priestly abuse of parishioners -- at risk of their souls and excommunication! The Vatican is clearly setting itself above the laws of nations by instructing its hierarchy to hide evidence from authorities.
Here's a clipping from a screen-save I did of one of the document's pages:Note the language about keeping these dirty in-house secrets "... in all matters and with all persons, under the penalty of excommunication ..."

Historically, the major churchs have always protected themselves before their adherents, even though without those adherents and their coin, those churchs would cease to exist. And the Catholic Church, a sprawling entity that is actually a minor nation, has a history of secretcy and corruption rivaling that of any political party.
Very in-ter-estink -- but no suprises.

Mmmmyup. Keep up the good work(s), Infallible-Rottweiler. You are single-handedly winning the war against fanaticism.
Maybe I should make this thread the Pope-watch thread.... :D |

He apologises for quoting something 600 years old that called some of their teachings evil and inhumane..... Their reaction to a 600 year old quote.... Prove it's truthfullness by acting evil and inhumane.
Burn churches (not Catholic), kill a nun, shoot some people, firebomb some stuff......
Yeah, real funny......

Yeah, certain Muslim's over-sensitivity to anything critical to their faith is almost amusing. It's like watching unruly 4-5 year old children who have learned to throw a tantrum when they don't get their way. Except this time, it's not children but people who can do serious harm to others. That's less amusing.
Someone needs to chastise those kids and make them behave, because Allah certainly does not. |

My amusement arises not from the violence that the radical Islamists do, but from the foot-in-mouth disease the infallible Pope seems to be afflicted with. I think that was clear from context. |

Except in this context, I don't think the pope actually said anything incorrect. Regrettable, perhaps, but only because of the preposterous reaction of Muslims. But not incorrect.

Although what the pope said is correct, this is a case of the recently cleaned pot calling the kettle black. Only a few hundred years ago Christianity was spread by "convert or we'll kill you" violence (in some cases it was "convert and we'll kill you quickly instead of burning you alive"). Islam is just a few hundred years behind. |

First, I'm totally with you on the first post. The Pope apparently forgot about the stone throwing lesson.
But on the second one, I think what is most frightening is the people controlling the 'megaphones' hold so much power over the masses. All you have to do is take a quote out of context or highlight a particular cartoon and you can get millions to riot in the street including mob violence. Very frightening that people are so easily led into a frenzy. |

Which one? "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?" (Christian forgivness tripe.) or take them outside the city gates and stone them (OT rules for a more peaceful society)?
