What is it about organized, team sports that brings out the oaf in some (many? most?) afictionados of the game. I mean, we all want our team to defeat, humiliate, and possibly hospitalize the opposition, don't we? Of course we do and if we happen to be on that team, we give our team mates every support, even those who are better at it than ourselves.... Don't we...?

Apparently not.

EVANS - A University of Northern Colorado football player, suspected of stabbing a teammate who beat him out for the team's starting punter job, has been kicked off the team and suspended from the school, while police investigate the incident, campus officials said Wednesday.

Mitch Cozad, 21, a sophomore and the team's backup punter, allegedly followed teammate Rafael Mendoza Monday night to the parking lot of his apartment complex, in the 2700 block of Crescent Cove, and attacked him from behind after he got out of his car, said Evans police Lt. Gary Kessler.

So....., now the team has no punter at all. Yay team!!

Punters. Never really part of the team, anyhow.

Well, this isn't limited to team sports, filthy. It sounds like this is just a case of Harding Syndrome.

And it didn't work out all that well for Tanya, did it? You'd think that people would learn from the stupidity of others, but it seems never to happen.

Is our species doomed to drown in the shallow end of the gene pool?

Sounds to me like he was going for the coffin corner.

As I was looking for an innocent joke to kidnap and convert into one of my silly "Bar Joke 1" space-opera gags, I ran across a page containing this quote:

That page had some good one liners, Mooner. I burst out laughing when I read this one.

My favourite was:

"We need to find a solution, even if it isn't the right one"

This is the motto of nearly all politicians.

Or as they say around here when stuck behind someone who failed to note the traffic light change or is causing some other, senseless delay: "Do something dammit, if'n it's wrong!"

Thinking about it, and thinking about the way our current government is acting, a "do-nothing" politition might not be such a bad thing after all.... I wonder if Mr. Cozad is a Young Republican.
