I just completed reading the entire transcript. Chris Wallace had both his axe and backstabbing dagger sharpened to a fine edge for his ambush attack, but it did him no good at all. Clinton tore Wallace and Faux new cloacas.
It was a great interview, despite the weasel Wallace, and thanks to Bill Clinton taking charge and getting out the truth. Clinton's two finest and most memorable comments sum it all up: quote: And I think it's very interesting that all the conservative Republicans, who now say I didn't do enough, claimed that I was too obsessed with bin Laden. All of President Bush's neo-cons thought I was too obsessed with bin Laden. They had no meetings on bin Laden for nine months after I left office. All the right-wingers who now say I didn't do enough said I did too much — same people.
. . .
And you've got that little smirk on your face and you think you're so clever. But I had responsibility for trying to protect this country. I tried and I failed to get bin Laden. I regret it. But I did try. And I did everything I thought I responsibly could.
Damn, I wish he could have run for President again!

It's about time. I don't know if the 9/11 path movie and/or the recent resurgence of Clinton accusations pushed Clinton over the line or whether there is any calculated politics involved such as the coming election. But, really, I was getting quite disgusted with Clinton, like Colin Powell, sticking to diplomacy when it was well past the time giving Bush any benefit of the doubt.
It was great. He put Chris Wallace off guard by confronting the "smirk" and the Fox planned ambush. Interesting he used the term, 'some people' in lieu of 'Bush' when saying they didn't even try to get Bin Laden. He did use the 'right wing conservative' with a nice derogatory tone. Later he called them "right wingers".
quote: I'm being asked this on the Fox network. ABC just had a right-wing conservative run in their little Pathway to 9/11, falsely claiming it was based on the 9/11 Commission report, with three things asserted against me directly contradicted by the 9/11 Commission report.
The first few comments on your link are very encouraging. I'll have to read more blog responses later. |
