This is something I found out about from the Bad Astronomer's site:

The Scientists and Engineers for America group.

Some quotes from their "Bill of Rights" page:

quote:
5. No scientists should fear reprisals or intimidation because of the results of their research.

6. Appointments to federal scientific advisory committees shall be based on the candidate's scientific qualifications, not political affiliation or ideology.

7. The federal government shall not support any science education program that includes instruction in concepts that are derived from ideology and not science.

Maybe now that scientists are getting pissed off enough to get organized politically, maybe there's some hope?

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Their "Bill of Rights for Scientists and Engineers" is simple and important. (I especially appreciate how number 7 uses the word, "ideology," rather than "religion." Smart of them!)

Hey did you see my comments on the blog? I was quite pleased with myself.

Funny though, sometimes I think I'm the only one noticing all these things, then I hear people like Shermer and others echo them. Shermer was on CSPAN tonight. Not only did his comments echo my thoughts on a wide variety of topics, but the questions from the audience did as well. Great questions were asked.
