This Actroid DER2 fembot from Kokoro is shown in this video promoting Sanrio's Hello Kitty in Japanese.

Then, when speaking in English, she's dressed up differently.

Actually, black latex when advertising Hello Kitty would be pretty damn creepy.

I was quite curious as to why Dave specifically said "black latex" until I saw the second video.

Are these fembots significant in any way? They seem to have the same fake appearence and movements as any other robots.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

I agree about the movements, which uncomfortably remind me of my own jerky movement on my left side since my stroke. But I was very impressed with the detailed physical appearance, which seemed far more human than any other "animatronic"-type machine I recall. I don't think, though, that these things should be referred to as "robots" in the Asimovian sense. I doubt any real AI is involved.

"Hello sailor, I am Actroid, and I will kiss you now..."

Yikes - run Chippewa!
