With the Foley scandal and the fallout about the Republican leadership's cover-up making an already bad situation worse for the GOP's prospects in the House of Representatives, the party is beginning to make "cut-and-run" plans for the House, while bolstering the defense of their five-seat Senate majority instead. The Democrats, meanwhile, now seeing less of a problem in gaining control of the House, are able to throw more of their resources into Senate races.
This is from a Time magazine article:quote: The G.O.P.'s Firewall Strategy
With the Foley scandal increasing the likelihood of a Democratic win in the House, Republicans are turning their attention — and money — to the Senate
By MASSIMO CALABRESI
Posted Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 With less than four weeks to go until the midterm elections, Republicans and Democrats are shifting focus to a battle for the Senate, as two months of bad news has forced national G.O.P. strategists into an increasingly defensive stance. The Mark Foley scandal alone has tossed anywhere from two to six formerly safe Republican House seats into play and increased the likelihood of a Democratic takeover. That has allowed the Democrats to target Senate races with new funds, and forced Republicans to concentrate on defending their 10-seat majority there. "The Senate's a top priority, and you'll see a tremendous amount of resources garnered to protect the majority there," says one G.O.P. strategist familiar with the party's planning. Says a Democratic strategist, "More attention than ever is being directed to the Senate races."

With books like state of denial and tempting faith getting media attention, it's not looking good for the GOP. This election should test the doubts about credibility in our election process. |

As with the democrats, the Republicans got too big with their power. Unlike the democrats, the republicans have stolen our nation, given it to overseas investors, and allowed american corporations to hire slaves from Mexico. It has fattened the corporate world with welfare and taken from the American taxpayer social welfare. It has given the president unpresidented powers and taken away our basic right that separated us from dictatorships, habeas corpus.
