A "News Alert" banner just now splashed across the top of CNN.com's homepage has this breaking information:
quote:
The Rev. Ted Haggard has been forced out as pastor of the 14,000-member New Life Church, whose board cited his "sexually immoral conduct."

Now CNN has the article:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/11/03/haggard.allegations/index.html

Edited to add from the article:
quote:
The Denver Police Department issued a statement saying it was "watching this situation unfold" and planned "on reaching out to the involved parties for information on crimes that may have been committed in Denver."
And:
quote:
On Friday, the White House sought to downplay Haggard's influence within the administration.

Spokesman Tony Fratto told reporters Friday that it was inaccurate to portray him as being close to the White House, insisting Haggard was only an occasional participant in weekly conference calls between West Wing staff and leading evangelicals.

"He has been on a couple of calls," Fratto said. "He's been to the White House one or two times."

Last year, Time -- citing Haggard's White House access -- put him on its list of the nation's 25 most influential evangelicals.

I cannot help but feel some Schadenfreude when a hypocrite of this kind is exposed, but on the other hand its not like the Judeo-Christian hatred & homophobia is Haggards idea.

Can you imagine living with this self denial and self hatred?

Self-despising hypocrites are among the most dangerous of men, in my humble opinion. I hope Haggard doesn't kill himself or someone else.

I do have some small hope that Haggard will expel his personal demons sanely, and rationally. Though I doubt it, he may someday become a beacon of rationality, and accept his love for Richard Dawkins.
