... is to continue doing something that doesn't work.
Probably because moderate Republicans were defeated disproportionally in the November election, the GOP in the US House of Representatives seems Hellbent on continuing their losing ways. They're keeping their NeoCon leadership, including even Dennis Hastert, who is under a cloud for doing nothing to stop Congressman Foley's predation of under-aged pages.
Here is a real "Controlled Demolition Theory" in action. It's not so much the outside forces smashing into the GOP Congress that brought it down, as it is the deliberate actions of those inside. Someone forgot to tell the Republicans that it's wise to evacuate before setting off the charges.
Thanks, boys, for cooperating in setting up conditions for an even greater Democratic victory in 2008!quote: Fresh off defeat, GOP keeps its House leaders

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republicans chose Rep. John Boehner as minority leader Friday, succeeding Speaker Dennis Hastert in the top GOP leadership post for the Democratic-controlled House that convenes in January.
Boehner defeated Indiana conservative Mike Pence. The vote tally was 168-27 with one vote for Texas Rep. Joe Barton. Boehner's election cements the Ohio conservative's resurrection within GOP leadership ranks. His elevation to succeed Hastert as the party's front line leader came despite unrest within the rank and file after the loss of at least 29 seats to Democrats in last week's elections.

Controlled Demolition.... Nah..... That takes planing, precision, and timing..... Of whch there is none. I liken it to a meth lab....... To many people cooking the books and the works...... One of the fiend dopes crossed the reality switct too many times.... It sparked, arced... and BOOOOOOM......
Seriously though, they are all on crack.....
No, seriously though...... Good luck with the victory. The election was not a mandate of liberal ideals, and they need to remember that. It was about curroption and a ill-fought war. If they screw up on either, all bets are off.
Are they up to the challenge.
Peace Joe |

The meth-lab explosion was a much better metaphor than mt CD Theory. I laughed my ass off!
On the "mandate," I agree. Any overt mandate of the voters was mainly about Iraq and corruption, somewhere about 50/50. But I think there is inherently also a mandate to undo a great deal of what the NeoCons have been doing for six years, particularly in the church-state arena, and in terms of human rights and privacy. Such defensive and corrective work will pretty much satisfy this Liberal Democrat until 2008, by which time a real agenda will hopefully exist in the Democratic Party.
