I was thinking of making up a poll, but there will probably be more and varied answers than I could come up with. My thinking is this...
To date, law enforcement agencies are stymied on the question of who did it. I'm simply puzzled by the fact that if the "anthraxer" is still around, he or she knows full well that the trail is rather cold. So why not another attack, particularly in the Midwest or West Coast to really give people the chills? How about a letter in a mailbox in Salt Lake City prior to the start of the Olympics?
Could it be that...
* The "anthraxer" was a foreign national and is one of those who flew the planes into the buildings in New York and Washington?
* The "anthraxer" is a home-grown domestic, but had a very limited supply and has used what he had?
* The "anthraxer" is satisfied that he perpetrated the perfect crime and needs no further proof of his invincibility?
....and anything else you could possibly come up with.

Speculation is about all we have on this one.
For no really good reason, I too, think that the anthrax poster is one of ours. And maybe he used 9/11 as sort of a cover for something he'd planned to do anyway.
(Miss Cleo hat on) I'm not dat sure dat this clown'll git caught 'less he keeps on doin' it, babyyy.
Did he run out of the 'product'? Possibly. Did the 'product' kill him and it went undiagnosed? Also possible. And he might have decided that he'd made his point (whatever that might be) and retired.
Not enough known, by me, anyway, to make any, assertive statement.

I'm with filthy. A plausable fourth scenario is that the "anthraxer" committed natural selection in action by removing the stupid genes from the gene pool. Since anthrax is very rare in the US, it is possible that the contaminated himself with his product and it was misdiagnosed. (poetic justice, really.)
Another one is that he was detained on an immigration issue and is out of circulation.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. A candidate for the Darwin Awards. Hadn't thought of that possibility. That would definitely rate a special awards presentation at Lincoln Center, to say the least. But I would think that the FBI would be pouring over death certificates with any sort of pulminary link. Plus there would be a limited time window of exposure, infection and demise.

As soon as she was gone the attacks stopped.

Dunno. She had no KNOWN connection to any of the sites. I think she was just the last fire cracker to blow up on the string. The fuse was just lit once. Well, maybe twice. Florida is a long way from New Jersey.
You also have to take into account the incredible disruption in mail service in the weeks immediately following 911.

Could be. Again, not enough known.
I read somewhere, or possibly saw on TV - can't remember - that a person could set up the equipment to culture and store anthrax for something under $1500. If true, that's a little alarming. The lab the letters came from might be no more than a Unibomber shack with electricity.
On the bright side, the Anthrax Kid might be face-down on the floor and the stench hasn't been noticed, yet.
I think, find the lab and you've got the man, one way or another.

Slater, that's an exellent possibility BUT I think I know of a better one.
Those people who died were expendable to the US Senate and Congress. Why? Because it was they who did it. It was their way of getting new paint and carpet in their offices without, out right adding on another tax to us.

...which is why it took so long to fumigate the Senate office building. They had to make sure the poison gas didn't affect the color-fast carpeting. Ahhh, solid progress on a new conspiracy theory, by God.

Perhaps the jerk is dead from his/her own carelessness. Remember that the anthrax sent to Washington was very, very lethal. One would need to know how to make it this lethal without getting zapped by it himself/herself. My guess is that the anthraxer is dead at his/her own hands.

That is a serious possibility. In that case it could have been one of those who died, that the government knows about or there's a body lying around somewhere yet to be discovered.
