Thought you guys would like to see this...

Debunking Common Skeptical Arguments Against Paranormal and Psychic Phenomena

http://www.psyzone.freeserve.co.uk/winston.htm

We use to call old winston (WWu777) "Woo Woo" on the Sci.Skeptic newgroup back when I read it regularly :)

It would seem that Skeptics are left holding the bag so to speak. I feel like such an idiot now, knowing that I have been so wrong all along and that anything anyone believes must be true. Guess we should should just close up shop and go home and drown our sorrows in beer.

I read a part of the first paragraph of WWu777's section. He cannot speak for science. Science has no theories which are safe from challenge and reversal. It is up to other scientists to correct the flaws in faulty theories. For this reason, proofs in science are only tentative, although the test of time seems to have made many great theories seem to be impregnable from challenge. WWu777 does not seem to understand this. One of the problems of pseudoscience and of religion is that their followers feel safe from having their ideas challenged. Not so. Peer review in science takes care of science hypotheses and theories. The followers of these other pseudo ideas do not seem to have a clue about the scientific process.

Explanatory addition to previous post: I have a habit of putting aside reading anything the minute it becomes blatantly irrational. I hate wasting my time with pure nonsense. I am always fearful of having my mind becoming contaminated by bad science.

That is probably even WORSE! Oh, well.

Explanation to the explanation...

Actually, I lied. I read a lot of silly posts. I just avoid the boring ones which do not challenge the mind. I enjoy most of the posts here. But going into a mental fog is not my idea of "getting a life".

I think that site is a lot like the false information given on TV as is being discussed in another topic. Part of the reason people will probably agree with that site is that it says exactly what they want to hear(see). According to this guy you can't even rule out fricken Santa Claus. Not that anyone would want to

Did you get to the part about "Skeptical Explanation of Answered Prayers"?

I want to know the believer's explanation for unanswered prayers :P and don't give me "they were't religious enough" crap either :P

Yeah, it's so long I'm gonna hafta waste the paper to print it! First thing I noticed was his circular logic. Until the discovery of bacteria it didn't exist so we could not have gotten sick from it. Wonder if the boy ever heard of TAESD (temporary association of empirical sense data). No we used to get sick from demonic possession! Then we found bacteria and realized that viruses and bacteria caused infections and diseases not demonic possessions. Yeesh! Well, no Pluto didn't exist in our lexicon until we discovered it. Talk about twisting concepts and words!

Ummm.... save your paper, lol. It's not worth it... :)

Wade into what war on what thread? lol

Although I'm agnostic (which does NOT mean I believe in god but don't want to obey him, lol) I think religion is a very personal thing and I don't like to argue about religion. Or politics for that matter, which is why i don't post in those folders... :)

Creationism is fair game though :)

Beer works. :-)

That's how the British airforce pilots are coping with the current Chemtrail Conspiracy.
