I suspect that Native American is nothing but a fundy in moccasins.
There was, years ago, a Native American TV evangelist who actually said that he'll know when God forgives Him because God will turn him white (as in caucasian).
That's obscene.

Nothing's more sick and awful to observe as self-hate, especially "racial" or ethnic self-hate. In my experience, people who hate themselves are likely to have even less regard for others.

This used to be part of Mormon doctrine - A Native who converted would "become a lightsome and delightful thing" The Mormons dropped this many years ago, but several years ago The Calragy Herald ran in item on this and talked to some Mormons in southern Alberta who claimed to have observed this phenomenon. |

Well, my daughter is half Chinese. Like many Chinese, her skin pigmentation varies greatly according to sun exposure. She can be quite brown, or very pale, depending upon the season. My impression is that there's a startlingly wider degree of variation in tanning, as compared to most Caucasians.
Could be these Mormons simply observed the effects of keeping a Native American indoors too long.
BTW, I have a hypothesis for the origin of skin-color discrimination. I think much of it is related to the fact that, traditionally, elites (whom other members of a society tend to emulate) have been able to stay indoors much of the time and remain pale, while the peasants who support this luxury toil in the sun, getting relatively dark. In many parts of the world, as in China, the Philippines, and India, skin color is either directly or indirectly related to social class or acceptability. I don't think all (though some) of this comes from European and American colonialist thinking, but has common roots in prejudice toward peasants.

This made me think of the term "redneck" and the horror of the "farmer tan".
