YO! Just THIS In...

Sound rationale to me. Not that we might do it, but the prediction that we might do it.

It certainly discusses a rationale. I don't quite agree that it's rational, if that's what you originally meant, which I suspect is the case.
That people would want to profit from such a venture (and some would undoubtedly succeed), seems a little beside the point. Conflict on that scale would have incredibly large consequences, both economic and otherwise, which would make financial speculation less than rational, in my opinion. I'm mostly an engineer though, so my expertise with money is largely in spending it when people give me some for working on the sorts of things that I'd generally do anyway.
I find it amusing that the ING publication is called "prophet". A cute play on words, although I would have thought it'd ruffle a few too many feathers for organisations of this type, which are generally very conservative. Interestingly, the only mention of the word "prophet" in that (perhaps somewhat special) edition was in a footnote referencing an earlier edition. The second link from the article does in fact link to a complete edition of "prophet". |

Thanks for the tepid vote of confidence in regard to my misspelling the word 'rational.' I wouldn't have put up the link had it not gone to what you subsequently clicked-to yourself. OY!

OY Sez: I think you've hit upon the reason for concern: Rationality is not a long suit of this Administration, so the calamity you and I envision from such action doesn't find its foundation in any rationale that is rational. But they might be cherry-picking for "one." It's difficult to be rational when desperate, and that's how many people on this side of the globe see Mr. Bush, unfortunately.
I almost get spooked communicating with someone from Australia on such a subject just after seeing for the 4th time the film "On The Beach." Let's hear it for Nevil Shute. There's Still Time, Brother!
