A friend of mine sent me the link to this artist's website:

Pretty neat stuff for people who have an eye for art and a love for science and math. And affordable too!

So very cool! I love it - if only I had the dollars (alas, I'm broke).

Sweet! A piece shall be mine!

Facts! Pssh, you can prove anything even remotely true with facts.

Make sure you don't miss the "About the Artist" page where she talks about why she uses 3D printers instead of traditional sculpting methods. http://www.bathsheba.com/artist/

quote:
Second, I use a lot of technology. 3D printing in metal is the main way that I work, and I also do a lot with subsurface laser damage in glass. This isn't because I love gadgets; it's much more trouble and expense to use new media instead of the more mature techniques that most sculptors enjoy. I do it because the shapes I have in mind aren't moldable, and I want to make a lot of them. Those two constraints, taken together, turn out to be remarkably constraining: ordinary sculpture technology just does not do the job

This stuff is so cool!

I love love love it. The more I see it, the more I'm fascinated about it. The lamps (in the gallery section) are outstanding.

Very cool indeed.

I've had exposure to 3D printing stuff on and off for a few years. I can't wait until I can have one at home for a reasonable price. That should be likely long before the ever-popular flying cars.

In the mean time, I'll definitely consider getting something from bathsheba.

John's just this guy, you know.
