Hmmm, I rather like that. But of course, the True Believers (whatever flavor in which they believe) won't read that any more than they read the 3 centimeter high red letters saying to include your email address. Sigh.

I love your site and your new avatar (out of season, unless you are in Australia). I should look for an avatar for myself, but I like the blue smiley face for myself (and others). I will need to look at some Clip Art to see what I can do to improve it.
I like reading your great stuff at Bad Astronomy, rather than posting and being knocked down by one of the true believers. You must have your hands full!

Yeah, I'm busy. The Moon Hoax stuff is having a bit of a revival because of an article in the Orlando Sentinel (I link to it on the top of my main page). I got a call from a radio station today for an interview and another newspaper wants to talk to me. That's always fun. I just hope I can generat ethis much interest next year when my book comes out. ;-)

Is it just me or is Patch sporting a new personality? Recently, especially today, when I've been over there, Patch hasn't been s/he/it's normal self. No attacks, no flames, none of that stuff.
Or is it just Computer Org being nuts again?

Maybe Patch/Gauss/Comp_Org is turning over a new leaf. Frankly, I'd be happy never to see another "everything I write is important, while anything anyone else writes is drivel" post...or another "everyone who disagrees with me must be British or Canadian" post.
Although we do have Spoq trying to infer that Rosen is wrong because his name might be Jewish.

The current crop of trolls over on BA actually make me nostalgic for Piper. Is it just me, or are there a lot of personal attacks going on? Spoq is having a grand old time bashing Rosen for being Jewish. Someone name Lisan Al-Giab is into it with Rosen because of coffee? Lisan doesn't like Kristin M too much either. (Who, I was happy to see has joined this forum. Welcome Kristin) In addition, this Lisan is so anti-American s/he should be checked for explosive residue.
Computer Org is back in the just plain nuttiness department. Read his bit about dust storms on Mars? I'd love to know who his "non-humans of earth origin" are. Mold? Poodles? *NSync?
And what the heck is it with Gauss and the Brits? Seems a couple of them disagreed with him, so now it's a conspiracy.
I really want to flame these fools, but I've found it rarely does any good. They're there to attack, discourage the intelligent posters, and eventually bring down the quality of the board. Other than skipping the posts by known trollers, I really don't know what can be done. It's sad.

This is why I haven't been over there in a long while. That and my computer was real slow over my break. 4 minutes to download a page when it usually takes less than a second.

Hope and pray that BA gets his new BB up real soon. As a wrestler has said on one of there shows: "If you don't believe in gud, start." Probably be the only way we'll get rid of these arseholes. Or at least cross ever toe and finger you have.

As far as answering these fools, I learned months ago that it really doesn't do any good. I scorched one asshole a couple of months ago for the belief that space aliens helped the Egyptians build the Pyramids. The nicest thing I suggested was that he was racist. Things went downhill from there. Of course, he never rebutted. His post had the desired effect. He posted nonsense, and I fell for it hook line and sinker. Live and learn, I guess.
What bothers me the most is the increasing numbers of unprovoked personal attacks. In the past month or so, Rosen, Rift, Bozola and KristenM (these are just off the top of my head) have all weathered some pretty harsh flames. I've re-read their posts, and cannot find anything that would warrent such behavior against them.

We all have done that, Lisa. I remember getting into a discussion regarding mathematics with another poster, before I realized that he was just stringing balloons together for effect. Plus I had the temerity to post facts in response to Gauss' diatribe regarding Ramanujan, to which the answer was that I must be British because I disagreed with him. (Still shaking my head and trying to figure that one out.)

Add to that Piper's seeming vendetta against Tomblvd, and the whole Rosen vs JW scenario. You're right, though; it does seem that some folks just can't simply disagree with ideas. They must rely on personal attacks.
I find myself posting less and less often there...and here.

Hey guys, been busy haven't you? :)
Been having computer connection problems. Still not totally solved. I think it's the weather, we are still getting rain, It is wetter then in '51 when we had a huge flood and rapidly getting close to as bad as '93. (51 was widely regarded as a 100 year flood and 93 as a five hundred year flood, somebody is bad at counting :)
Looks like I've missed a lot over at BABB :)
