Kent Hovind, my favorite wacko fundamentalist neighbor, has apparently decided that he should be able to choose which parts of the law he needs to follow: http://drdino.com/?pg=helpdal
Now, keep in mind that I live in Pensacola, and I am an old friend of, guess who? That's right, the 'building inspector.' Since, I've been through this once at Infidels, take a look: http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=58&t=000171
I am 'Philosoft' on that board.

I like option number 5.....
quote: 5. Financially support our ministry. We are now nearly two years behind where we could be in the growth of this ministry. Four major building projects to improve and expand our outreach to the thousands who come here have been delayed due to the tremendous cost of our battle with the county.
Why doesn't that suprise me......

In a perverse sort of way, I admire the guy. He never quits. Neither debunking, arrest nor ridicule will discourage him. Like the Energizer Bunny, he just keeps going and going, ignoring all adversity.
And like the Fruit Loops Toucan, he's colorful and good for a chuckle, now and then.

Isn't the argument he brings about the law not applying to him, the same argument that other people bring in favor of things like "Church Asylum"?
Somehow it sounds a lot more convincing if brought fort by people a little bit more grounded in reality. The at least have people actively reasoning with them and even giving them right instead of being outright dismissed as a lunatic.
Wonder why that is..

quote: The Amish never get permits or inspections of their buildings in any state, including Florida. [from Hovind's article]
Baloney. Build a house in Ohio Amish country without the proper septic permit and inspection and watch what the heck happens to 'ya. The house can fall down, but the septic has to be certified.
Amish schools have outhouses, but they have to be built right over the septic tank opening on the top. Makes for simplicity of construction, actually.
