"Or is your real goal just to rail against how evil the U.S. is, and you really couldn't care less what you used as evidence? (In other words, you couldn't care less about the Iraqi people, they're just good material to use for your own propoganda)."

Though I fail to see the point in your quoting me here, keeping up with this thread as long as it's been has convinced me I was right. (And I should have put 'evil' in quotes up there originally, as I was implying what you yourself thought about the U.S.; I wasn't describing it as evil).

I think @tomic can explain why you were quoted. Ask @tomic.

As to the rest of your statement, your opinion is noted.

Now that we're stating opinions, it's my opinion that you fear reality.

Gorgo - that last jibe was uncalled for and completely unnecessary! Let sleeping dogs lie! Damn, you'd think you have to have the last word on this. It's over and done, a dead horse, no sense beating it to a bloody pulp. (yes, I use colloquialisms when I refrain from swearing...)

Thanks for adding to the beating of a dead horse.

We continue a long standing policy that is not achieving the intended results. Perhaps our government, the best government in this best of all possible worlds, might want to re-evaluate the strategery in light of the impacts to innocents in Iraq.

Actually, the intended result is for the U.S. to dominate the area and keep the Ba'ath party in power, no matter the cost to human life, so the plan has been successful.

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) -- Aircraft belonging to a U.S.-British coalition monitoring the "no-fly zone" in southern Iraq struck an anti-aircraft artillery site on Tuesday, U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

"In response to recent Iraqi hostile acts against coalition aircraft monitoring the southern no-fly zone, Operation Southern Watch coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons today to strike an anti-aircraft artillery site in southern Iraq at approximately 2:45 a.m. EDT (0645 GMT)," the statement said.

Damage from the strike was being assessed, it said. The last coalition strike in the southern no-fly zone was on July 7 against an Iraqi anti-aircraft artillery site, the state ment said.

Western forces set up no-fly zones in northern and southern Iraq after the 1991 Gulf War to protect Kurdish dissidents and other minority groups. Iraq does not recognize the zones.

What can you say? They(Iraq) fired a couple missles at US planes. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw the US military open one of these up on Bagdad soon.

@tomic, I really don't want fighting to start in that area again. There's the possibility this time of biological weapons being used. Hussein might use them if he feels that his control of Iraq is being threatened. I doubt we could keep Israel out of the fighting if he were to use biological weapons and one of them were to kill Israeli citizens.

This would be the begining of the fall of the Camp David Accords. Egypt has been fair in supporting these accords, however, despite the years of peace between the two countries it would not hurt Egypt to see Israel fall. We have troops in that area, I would seriously be concerned for their safety should war break out in the region again.

That is not a very cheerful article. I think that Israel would be more than prepared to respond. It would be a very bad thing for all parties involved.

"Over the last two years, I've discovered documents of the Defense Intelligence Agency proving beyond a doubt that, contrary to the Geneva Convention, the U.S. government intentionally used sanctions against Iraq
to degrade the country's water supply after the Gulf War. The United States knew the cost that civilian Iraqis, mostly children, would pay, and it went ahead anyway."
