Forensic experts in Italy have come up with this computer-generated sketch of a fair-skinned young Jesus with wavy hair and dark eyes, based on historical data and images from the controversial Shroud of Turin.
The image was created with the same technology used by police to age the faces of long-time missing people or wanted criminals.

| Well, as a long time Christian I can say that's the first time I've ever heard Jesus described as a "hottie". I wonder if he can still blush? |

As far as I know, yes.
In actuality, he was probably somewhere between 5'5'' to 5'8'' tall, quite dark complected, and due to his lifestyle, lean and tough as a two-dollar steak.
I think that the Romans, occuping the Holy Lands became the model that the Jesus of the church was fashioned after, and the European image pretty much stuck. I have seen paintings of him that made him look like he was Hitler's ideal aryan.
Such is the imagination, perhaps even the wishful dreams, of the faithful.

| Given the times, he would have looked like a Muslim to the Europeans. Can't have that, can we? They probably had a hard enough time accepting that he was Jewish. |

I once had an aquaintance whom I drove into a fit of rage (that required a slight attitude adjustment) by stating that if Jesus had even existed he was a Jew. The person in question was something of a neo-nazi, and I admit I said it to deliberately provoke the guy...
Anyway... my point is, that some of the fundie crowd will get seriously bent out of shape if you suggest that Jesus was anything other than a white European protestant, apparently on a secret mission to convert the pagan Romans and evil Jews over to christianity.
