You have answered a different question, not the one asked. Because you can't answer "Do you still beat your wife?" without agreeing to the premise in the question, that you have beaten her in the past.
But you miss the point. That type of question is an inherently dihonest type of question to ask. That is why it is used as an example of what you are doing here.

Because you refuse to participate in honest debate Jerome. There are a limited number of options for why you behave the way you do here. You're a troll, a liar, or an idiot are the top choices.

I answered the question posed, do you not have the ability to answer a question?
I learned in primary school that those who named called had little in their minds, showing a severe inability to critically think.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell |

I answered the question posed, | No you haven't. You have answered a different question. If you can't see that, then you really have a severe English comprehension problem.

So, am I to understand that a question can not be answered unless the correct question is asked?
How about when talking about a topic everyone tell me what questions they would like me to ask so that the question fits the pre-made answer.

So, you never grew out of name calling.
I learned this fact because I was the name caller. Another assumption that was incorrect. Shall I pretend to be something I am not to satisfy your inability to think outside of your assumptions?

And by "correct" question, we're not talking about a question to which we have already figured out a devastating answer. But, by "correct" question, we're talking about a question that doesn't depend of false premises, or questions that presupposes unevidenced assumptions. Or even false assumptions.
How about when talking about a topic everyone tell me what questions they would like me to ask so that the question fits the pre-made answer. | We could do that if you like. It will be much more pleasurable for all of us, compared to now.
Or, we could meet half way.
If you ask a question that is "wrong", and we tell you to ask the "correct" question, you could ask us why we think your question is "wrong".
Take for example the question "Can a mutation increase the genetic information?". The question is bad because "information" is a fuzzy word that needs further definition before it can be answered. If you had asked what was wrong with the question we would have told you why, and suggested you rephrase it to ask if mutations can increase the number of base-pairs in a species DNA.
By asking us to help you rephrase the question, we will be in a position to teach or explain to you which of the underlying presumptions of the question which is wrong or flawed. It could be an excellent opportunity for you to learn more.

Good points in your question explanation. I will take that into account.
Would it not be more expedient to initially state the objection to the premise of the question instead of asking to rephrase the question? Much in the same manner I answered the flawed question about my wife?

Was genetic data increased? This is the question we are currently talking about. | Define "genetic data" in precise biological terms for us. | I wasn't asking you to rephrase, I was asking you to be precise, because your question was not. |

Maybe you did and I perceived it incorrectly. Possibly if the arrows were not fired at such a rate I would be better able to discern a relevant message.

Jerome, you are averaging almost 24 posts a day on this site. Perhaps if you slowed down & read (and considered) your own comments, and others' comments, more carefully, you would be better able to discern a relevant message - and better able to participate in meaningful discussion.

Savour the moment, Dave.
This is probably the closest thing you'll ever see Jerome coming to an admission that he's wrong.
In Jerome's defence, I'll have to say...
...
...
...hang on, I'm trying to come up with something positive to say...
...
...
...no.
I'm sorry. I'm too riled up from reading the Abiogenesis-thread to come to think of anything nice.

Why not respond in the abiogenesis thread as opposed to pointing out a spelling mistake?

| Because you're so keen on throwing the dictionary in the face of people, yet cannot find the right context in which a word is meant to be used. I thought I'd help you along a bit.
