Your next president! |
What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen a pink shirt before?

Don't count your Obamas before they're inaugurated. McCain is leading in Florida and several other states. There's a lot of pinheaded Republicans out there that would vote for Hitler if he ressurrected and became a Republican - (unlikely, but if he managed the resurrection part, the Republican part would be a given!)
There's a lot of work to do before November! I'm doubling my contribution to DNC ($1000/mo) for Senatorial and House elections, hoping that Obama's Internet work for small contributions will be enough! He needs at least twenty million!
Would everyone here that really wants to see the Bush/Cheney/Neocon/Conservative/Corporate Age end, contribute $10.00 to DNC? Once big Oil and Pharmaceuticals and Armaments starts really kicking in to McCain, he's going to be swimming in money! Even if you're a Libertarian or Communist or Whig? Please! |

How about,(In Spicoli voice) "Nah man I never smoked pot, except that one time, five minutes ago." |
"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History
"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini |

I'd love to make a contribution, but if I remember my English textbook on American history and social sciences, I'm not allowed to. Bummer. Just think about it, if you could draw on the entire world population for funding...

The law seems quite clear:The Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) prohibits any foreign national from contributing, donating or spending funds in connection with any federal, state, or local election in the United States, either directly or indirectly. It is also unlawful to help foreign nationals violate that ban or to solicit, receive or accept contributions or donations from them. Persons who knowingly and willfully engage in these activities may be subject to fines and/or imprisonment.
...
Under Commission regulations it is unlawful to knowingly provide substantial assistance to foreign nationals making contributions or donations in connection with any U.S. election. 11 CFR 110.20(h). "Substantial assistance" refers to active involvement in the solicitation, making, receipt or acceptance of a foreign national contribution or donation with the intent of facilitating the successful completion of the transaction. This prohibition includes, but is not limited to individuals who act as conduits or intermediaries. 67 FR 69945-6 (November 19, 2002) Official Warning Nobody may use the SFN for this sort of activity, or even for planning this sort of activity. |

Plus; if he was accepting a significant amount of money from foreign sources, it would probably get known at some point, and I can imagine the GOP using it as an argument against Obama.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Carl Sagan - 1996 |

| Indeed. That's why I have to be content trying to talk people into sense. Not that I have much contact with americans outside SFN and Skepticality. Except Rapture Ready Bulletin Board. But practically all of them are way beyond salvation.
