"A team of physicists has claimed that our view of the early Universe may contain the signature of a time before the Big Bang."
Good topic for that next Monday morning coffee break.

Good stuff. Another article touching on some of these topics was noted in last week's summary. |

I am duly impressed; that's pure coolness on a stick!

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Not quite.
Beyond the media spin on this, it's a rather weak assertion. It assumes a very specific type of 'precursor universe' (which we do not have any evidence whatsoever of) and attempts to predict from there.
An interesting mathematical curiousity, but far from a representation of reality. |

Um, I didn't see any assertions beyond tentitive hypothsis, Hat. In science, those come and go every day as new information is gathered. How the media spin those hypothisis matters not at all.
Myself, as a layman, I'll just have to wait & see.

Wow! It's been a while, hasn't it? But, he's new to me so my welcome still stands.
How come gone so long, Hat? Were you also on the old forum?
