I just heard on NPR's Morning Edition that in the next few days, they're going to do some stories on the so-called "authorship questions" re Shakespeare.
I freely admit that this is one of those fringe ideas that I sort of bought into. I read Alias Shakespeare a long time ago and found it to be compelling. I don't know if I'd still feel that way, so I look forward hearing this NPR feature.

The Chairman of our local skeptics group is quite the expert on this subject, and devoted two separate articles to it in recent newsletters. His opinion is that it's a load of hooey, Shakespeare was DA MAN! |

Thanks for these. I especially liked the second article, from a critical thinking as a tool of logic standpoint.
That is, while there may be some percieved inconstancies and perhaps some small reason for doubt about the Stratfordian view, the alternatives suggested by the Shakespeare conspiracy advocates are far more fantastic and therefor less likely to be true.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.
