Why mine quotes when you can selectively choose an entire article or paper to pick apart and misrepresent? The fact that these species of blatherskite do no research of their own, nor would even know how, beyond methods of applying Biblical apologetics to the situation does at all not figure into their calculations. Especally when those misrepresentations are targeted at those who know even less science than they themselves, which is damned little.

Thus, we have AiG's latest "News to Note" hogwashery, which includes outright ignorance & even lies about the new studies on the avian tree of life, martian soil analysis, and "singing cavemen."

I think that what it is, science changes as new information comes in whilst all they have is the single, thousands of years out-of-date text, a text that has nothing to do with any sort of scientific study beyond creative goat-breeding, that they cannot change at all under some sort of threat of damnation. Their dependance on this book of mythology so locks them in that there is no place for any sort of original thought that might in any way contradict it.

But it's good for a laugh and even a sneer....

I had to put splints on mine, but they should be better soon.

Congratulations on your 10'000th post Filthy!
Being notorious enough already, I was going to hold off on it for a while in hopes of sneaking it by. But then our Siberia returned at last, so it went into her thread. Couldn't think of a better place for it.

Apparently quote-mining isn't too gauche for our own President. Bush quoted Jefferson thusly:
May it be to the world, what I believe it will be -- to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all -- the Signal of arousing men to burst the chains, and to assume the blessings and security of self-government.
Jefferson actually wrote (my bold):
May it be to the world, what I believe it will be, (to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all,) the signal of arousing men to burst the chains under which monkish ignorance and superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume the blessings and security of self-government.
Can't imagine Bush saying that, can we?

Hattip to Rana Banerjee.

He, or his writers, are not very good at it, are they? We get better than that in here from dingbats.... Hmm. Well, I suppose that shoe fits, too.
