Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

If the person committing such an act is a hermit with no human contact, then it can be simply stupid or ignorant. As soon as a person's choices have effects upon other people, then stupidity and ignorance themselves become immoral.
