This is an article on a project that the Greater Philadelphia Coalition of Reason (PhillyCoR) did as social outreach, to gain publicity, and as a way to kick off a service club that we are forming.

The main point of this particular project was to raise the visibility and positive profile of atheists in this region by engaging Christians in a friendly way and doing charitable works. We were also trying to show that atheists do good things too, just through secular charities, and that charity itself is a secular value, not a religious value.

Well, I am almost amazed that a debate didn't break out at some point. Just know this Marf. As they drove away and talked among themselves, they were probably sad for you and wondering how they can save you from a fiery pit.
Still, I suppose the best way to not be the least trusted group in the country is to have those people of faith get to know you. |
Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.
Why not question something for a change?

Yeah, the point was not to convert, the point was to raise public understanding about nontheists.
