It's not an official apology, but it's a start

It's not even an unofficial apology. It's damage control. A desperate attempt to remain relevant. Who needs 'em?

Hey it's certainly worthy of noting, ammo for our side. |

Boarf; no big deal.
Very few people, especially among the 'non-scientifically educated' rejected the idea at the time. What is important is that they no longer do as do American evangelists (the only large Christian group that I know and still does) |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. The church(s) owe an apology to a hell of a lot more people than Darwin, for a hell of a lot more reasons than mere opposition to the ToE.
Tell 'em they can shove it!

A pattern emerges, the Vatacan says today: evolution is compatable with the Bible, though no apologies will be made to Sir Charles.

| This has been the Vatican's position on evolution for some time now. What would be news is if they changed their official position on the use of contraception. (It would be nice if staying good with God didn't mean killing people in this time of serious STD's.) I am not at all surprised that the church of England shares the view that evolution is compatible with religion. (Plus, they allow contraception.)
I'll take the evolution part. Catholic and the Anglican schools teach biology as it should be taught. With all of their faults, that's a good thing, apology or not...

Yeah, most important move in chess history I'd say, also in the history of the Skynet Defense Network. |
