| Well, Obama's going on for too long, which isn't good. Especially since Brokaw keep whining about it (would that Ifil had actually noted Palin's refusal to actually answer the questions asked of her). But it's (again) frustrating that McCain can lie about basic facts and not be corrected. |

Yeah... I sure agree.
But then, what was a homie to do? First of all; he could not answer to half of McCain's stuff because of the debate format (he did break out for the one about invading Pakistan) also; calling McCain a liar would have come out as petty and antagonistic and that's not what people wanted to hear. Indeed, judging by the curves thingy; they started to drop when the candidates when on the negative and Obama was judged more likeable according to the polls.
So, I think that it was the right thing to do, stay calm and personable and reserve the 'nasty sounding comments' for the most damageable lie. In the end, he only went for the one about 'invading Pakistan'. Makes sense, people would never vote for a second Iraq (or a third Afghanistan's, depending on how you see it).
Hmmm... About McCain's comment on his heart transplant. Probably he wanted to make it more personable. Probably next debate will be about his trouble financing his Viagra... |

It seems that McPalin are laying off the terrorist baloney.
Obama thanks McCain for efforts to 'tone down rhetoric
At an event Friday in Minnesota McCain referred to Obama as a "decent person," and praised him as a "family man" after two voters expressed fear over Obama being elected. | Fear is mild compared to what some McPalin voters expressed over the last several days.
Not only wasn't the rhetoric working for McPalin, but it was becoming dangerous. And the McPalin camp were coming under increased criticism even by conservatives in their own party. Also, they were not winning over many independents with that tactic.
I watched some of their campaign rallies this morning on CNN. Palin didn't mention Bill Ayers or terrorist connections. That's not to say her spiel was pretty, but most of the subject was on the economy and who is best to lead.
I think they will still be aggressively negative. Common wisdom is if they run on the economy, they will lose.
Obama is still rising in the polls, and as of today he has broken the 7% lead mark overall. |

He... They keep on trying new weapons, going through the armoury, discarding them for another one as soon as it does not seem to be working...
Also, it can be that they will leave the racially charger attacks to the base and other republicans which are not as obviously linked to the campaign.

Can't claim credit for that one, I first heard it on Stephanie Miller's show. |
