Kill, Gallup gets paid for their poll results. They don't do it for free. They have a stake in a tight presidential race in that they will make more money. I wouldn't go so far as to accuse them of deliberately falsifying polls (that would be detected at some point and they would be destroyed economically), but... there could be some unconscious bias in the methodology of all pollsters at the moment. The basic methodology of modern polling is the same across all the polling agencies.

Have you pointed out to them that ACORN is the agency that reported suspicious registrations to the authorities? ACORN is bound by law to turn in all voter registrations they collect, but they packaged the ones they thought were suspicious and informed election athorities when they turn them in... So if your brother is not interested in finding out what is really going on, then he is never going to vote for Obama anyway.

At Pharyngula: Whoa. Hitchens endorses Obama!

I wonder how that'll effect the polls...

Hitchens' endorsing Obama is a bit of a suprise.

Ok, after reading his "endorsement" over on Slate.com, .... LOL

He hates stupid people, and John McCain has picked the dumbest politician in the US (how he found one dumber than Bush.. I dunno) for a VP. Hitch is worried about McCain's obvious signs of age and infirmity and fears (rightfully so) a Palin presidency.

He basically details the reasons why he can't support McCain, and reluctantly indicates (he doesn't say it outright) that he will vote for Obama.

As endorsements go, its a bit tepid... maybe even petulant.

Remarkable, and a credit to Hitchens to make the swing, however reluctantly.

I was just listening to a McCain/Palin rally. I've said it before and I'll say it again....somebody stop this planet, I want to get off.

Well, they're debating again tonight. Conventional wisdom and a few rash statements has it that McCain is gonna clean Obama's clock this time. Somehow, I doubt that this will come to pass.

I really hate to watch it because, surer'n hell & evolution, McCain'll say a lot of "My friends" with a preacher's inflections and in a voice like like an grease spill at Mickey D's. I don't know if I can take much more of that.

I am absolutely baffled how anyone can find Palin inspiring or swallow the illusion that she is capable of being president. Yes, we've had 8 years of Bush meaning the bar of compentancy is way low. But damn, the idea of her as president makes my skin crawl. All by itself this exposes McCain's "country first" line as a complete lie. He's losing it and she's never had it - if he put country first, he'd drop out and take her with him. I almost typed that this Republican ticket shows the party has no interest in decent government, but they've already proved that for eight years running now.

over at Realclearpolitics.com they moved FL from tossup to leaning Obama, with Obama having a 5 point lead.

If FL moves to a 7 point lead for Obama... I may begin to think Obama will win this election.
