It's going to be on evolution/creation, and should be a real wowser. AiG rarely has the opportunity to engage in live creation/evolution debates nowadays. Yes, we have participated in such forums over the years, even at places like Harvard, but those debates were many years ago. The word in the evolutionist community today is to turn down invitations to debate creationists, the rationale usually going something like this: “Don't give a creationist the legitimacy of being on the same platform as an evolutionist.”1 | I think that it will turn out to be merely a young/old Earth argument, or perhaps discussion, with no fireworks at all.
The reason no one wants to verbally debate any creationists is that it is impossible to refute so many misconceptions, apologetic spinning and outright lies in the time allowed.
Heh, I wonder who'll win this'un.

Of course, Fil, you put your finger on the real reason that established scientists generally don't do stand-up debates with Creos. It's the old "Gish Gallop": The Creos throw out a hundred lies and misquotes per minute, and it's impossible to even get back to most of them, much less point expose quote-mining and every other rhetorical fallacy that a professional preacher can toss out. Often scientists are not great debaters.
Still, young evolutionary scientists (Abbie Smith et al) have been known to knock some of these guys on their asses from time to time.
Evos tend to avoid stand-up debates with Creos for the complement of the reason Creos usually avoid written debates with Evos.
This, being an online debate, should vastly favor Ham's opponent. (Note that the opponent is a moderate evangelical, not an atheist.)

And it's being hosted by BeliefNet, which'll make it rather like having a moderated, public circle-jerk. Everybody will be so treakley polite that it'll make your teeth hurt to follow it, and in the end will have a neutral effect on both parties because, really, other than Earth-age and Biblical metaphor, there's little difference in their mythological positions.
As this is going to be between two people that all but agree with each other, it should be hosted, not at a believer's site, but one that can be theologically neutral. Like, f'instance, SFN.
Hey @tomic, quick, extend the offer! Dude would make a splendid moderator (I'd volunteer for it but I'm a little too biased).
