I'm not making a big deal of it this year. Indeed, since the Madagascar cockroach incident of a few years ago, that closely followed a python incident, I no longer get all that much traffic anyway. This is good. I will get to eat the just-in-case candy myself. Sometimes it pays to not just look, but actually be scary.
Hallowe'en has the usual history of a pagan celebration co-opted by the Catholic Church. But unlike Christmas & Easter & the rest, the Church never managed to get it away from it's origins; a celebration of the dead.
So now, in the spirit of the evening, I'm going to do something a little different. I'll let Answers in Genesis tell you the story. Mr.Ham, if you please sir, the podium is yours...
What About Hallowe'en?
A Night When Evil Is Celebrated
It pays to be scary, sometimes. And who knows, these cute, little tykes just might show up at my place some evening, and I must greet them appropriately....
Happy Hallowe'en!

| This is some kind of sick parody site. Right?

Number 1 didn't give it away for you, Moakley?
1. Wait for unsaved children to come to your door and hurl a bucket full of warm lamb's blood (goat or dog blood can be substituted later in the night if you run out) all over their hair and faces. |
Yes, it is a parody site. A classic one even. |

Since I just bought a house, I am doing more for Haloween this year. Got a black light which really shows the fake spider web off, and I have a skeleton costume where the bones really glow. Made a scary Jack-O-Latern too.
I love Halloween because of the idea of mocking those things which give us irrational fear. |

I love Halloween. Today I will be carving a pumpkin, which usually takes me from 4 to 6 hours. We well shlep over to Michelle's parents house because the supply of kids in this neighborhood has dried up. No fun if there are no kids.
Anyhow, I also love Dia De Los Muertos or Day Of The Dead. Much of the art around my house was made for that celebration of remembering dead loved ones. Whenever we drive down to Mexico, I buy something. Michelle loves religious folk are so we have lot's of crucifixes and Mary's around too, also mostly from Mexico. Our living room alone would scare most kids and at least some adults.
Happy Halloween!!! |
Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

| A Landover newbie! I didn't know there were any left in here. Thought we'd converted 'em all to the Righteous Path or sent the unbelieving & therefore unsaved to a well-deserved perditon, there to howl & gnash their teeth for the exquisite pleasure of God and His flock of the saved that follow with adoring blindness in His grace.
Check it out and you too, might be saved.

My long-time girlfriend is Mexican (from Mexico City) and we have done the Day of the Dead before. Not doing it this year. Minus the religious aspect, I like the idea of remembering those who have died. I am going with her to Mexico in December...can't wait! (first time going) |

| Not really. Fred and his family are such wack jobs that pre caffiene I only wondered where someone would get buckets of goats blood.

some encouraging news; some spiritual folks are encouraging the Brits to at last come to their senses.
