My cable does not seem to include PBS but I'll watch it online. I just have to wait until tomorrow. |

It'll be worth the wait. I found it good enough that I'll start monitoring the six-day creationist sites again. If they hold true to form, their reaction(s) should be highly amusing.

Good review. One thing it failed to mention was the spooky music. It was the single thing I didn't like about it. They could have done a little better with that.
Answers in Genesis might leave this one alone -- it'd be some tough apologetics to produce with a straight face.

It is starting to look like they, AiG & ICR, et al., are going to shelve it in some dark corner of the cellar and pretend that it never existed. This is not uncommon; they can always claim to critics that they never knew it was going to be shown, and missed it. Yeah, right!
Sadly, the lock-step faithful will accept the lie with no questions asked. Again, this is not uncommon as they place their trust not so much in the Bible, but in those who translate it. I find myself reminded of the early Church going to great lengths to supress commoners knowing what that immortal work of fiction actually says. It would appear that the practice continues, albeit on a smaller, more local scale.

Aha & oho! ICR has come through for us. I was afraid that it would never happen. PBS Fails to Uncover the Bible's 'Buried Secrets'

On November 18, 2008, publicly-funded PBS stations aired a two-hour NOVA special titled “The Bible's Buried Secrets” that attempted to find the “true” history of the origins of the Israelites, their sacred Scripture, and their revolutionary belief in a single God.
The show—composed of expert interviews, actor dramatizations, computer-generated imagery, and some on-location video clips—suggested that the ancient Israelites were actually displaced, lower-class Canaanites who took over the land after the collapse of their former city states. Joined by liberated Canaanite slaves from Egypt and nomads, these people sought to forge a new collective identity, which led to the birth of Israel and, eventually, monotheism.
Using a “convergence” of science and Scripture to reveal the “real” story of the Bible, the program also suggested Abraham didn't exist, only a small contingent of ex-Canaanite slaves came out of Egypt instead of the millions of Jews as told in Exodus, and that the one God Yahweh (YHWH) was an Israelite invention inspired by the Shasu god Yahu (YHW). |

As apologetics go, I'm afraid that Christine & Beth haven't done all that well -- sorry, ladies. But then, their only reference is that same text they've been flogging for centuries and has been shown to be massively flawed. If ICR were serious researchers, they'd have been in on the project from the beginning or failing that, if they were honest, which they are certainly not, they'd have mounted their own project rather than sit around bitching about someone else's.
Read on -- I found the predictable whine about carbon-14 dating mildly amusing.
