A day and a half after they began, the series of coordinated jihadist attacks in India's most populous and most Westernized city continue.

The Indian government is once again caught without warning. India appears impotent in its response, and crudely lies about the events to the world and to its own people.

To roughly summarize events, teams of clean-cut young men armed with machine pistols, grenades and plastic explosives, attacked numerous venues in Bombay, including two large international hotels, the Taj Mahal and the Oberoi. Several high ranking anti-terror police were shot and killed, along with well over a hundred civilians. Hostages were seized at the Taj, the Oberoi, and the Jewish center, and are still being held.

I have been following the events about as closely as one can via the Internet. Late last night, Indian authorities announced that the terrorist action was over, but today combat and hostage-holding continues.

The Arithmetic

One example of the willful nonsense India's authorities are feeding the world is the number of the attackers. These don't even come close to adding up:

Indian authorities said twelve terrorists are involved. These originally came ashore from a boat which landed at Gateway to India (a monument near the Taj hotel). That boat disembarked ten men, two of whom returned to the boat. The remaining men split into two groups, attacking the Taj, the Oberoi, a cafe, a train station, a women's and children's hospital, a residence where Jews and Israelis live, a market place and a movie theater. Five of the men were killed by police, with one arrested. Six remained at large. Of those, "five or six" are holding hostages at the Jewish/Israeli residence, while others continued to hold hostages at the Taj and the Oberoi. Yet other terrorists stole two police vehicles and escaped.

I'm not so good at math, but something's very wrong with the idea that eight to a dozen terrorists were all that were involved. This is a massive attack involving scores, perhaps a hundred combatants.

I hope this doesn't turn into one of those wacko conspiracy theories involving the Bilderburgers and whoever else.

That is certainly a very complex and well organized operation esoecially coming from an, as ye unknown, organization.
I suspect that Pakistani terrorists with connection with Al-Qaeda and the Iraq war might be involved.

No woo conspiracy theory on my part.

Certainly, like 9/11, the attack itself manifestly was a conspiracy, but the Indian government probably couldn't put together a conspiracy of its own if its life depended upon it. I also suspect it couldn't pour piss out of a boot unless there were instructions printed on the heel.

I just think the Indian government is ineptly trying to minimize a major attack that they didn't see coming and still cannot adequately handle.

I suspect that the attacks were actually carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba, a group that works very closely with Al-Qaeda.

Here's a story of an actress who ran into that mess.

> Good luck with that fuckwit. And Reynold, fucking run, and don't stop.
> Disappear would be best as it was you who dared to attack me on my
> illness knowing nothing of the cause. You disgust me and you are top of
> the list boy. Again, no violence. Just regular reminders of who's there
> and visits to see you are behaving. Nothing scary in reality. But I'd

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Watching live (?) coverage now from IBN/CNN. Much small arms fire at the Taj. New flames have broken out from a corner of the old Taj building near the hotel's restaurant.

Earlier, all five hostages were killed at the Nariman House Jewish center. I watched coverage of India's supposed elite commandos, one of whom stood on a railing while firing his rifle one-handed from over his head into the building. He obviously had no particular target. These commandos may themselves have killed some or all of those hostages.

Pity India, with such "security" forces.

Giving due credit however: Earlier, Mumbai firefighters were both brave and effective at putting out fires high on the old Taj building, near its central dome.

Now firefighters moving in once again. Good modern firefighting equipment is being used. Small arms fire stopped just minutes ago.

Mumbai police commissioner Hassan Kapoor says that all the terrorists in the Taj are now dead; two killed yesterday, two more today. The director of the NSG security group says one is still alive.

All other terror venues are now finished, supposedly. The Oberoi is "sanitized," and all the terrorists and hostages in the Nariman are dead.

Lastly, the Director General of the NSG has now told reporters that three of the last two terrorists have been killed, but that others may still be in the hotel.

OMG; terrorists have mastered cloning technologies!

I've seen Iraq footage when American soldiers did the same toward residental buildings. No one focussed the fire on the particular building where an alledged terrorist had fired from. There was no regard for collateral dammage. But who cares, as long as the soldiers are relatively safe?

Regular grunt soldiers do even worse, generally speaking. Little fire discipline. But what I saw from Mumbai was extraordinarily unprofessional for special ops types whose primary job is to rescue hostages.
